The mid-summer patron saint's festival in Lauco
Amidst the mountains of Carnia, in the heart of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the village of Lauco celebrates its patron saint's festival dedicated to San Rocco every mid-summer. It is the most anticipated event of the year for this mountain community in the province of Udine, which gathers for days of music, food, and conviviality around the August 16th festival.
The heart of the festival is the large covered tent, where a varied entertainment program unfolds every evening: concerts, comedy shows, folk music, and revival nights. With accordions, bands like Studio Folk and Folketitrai, and entertainment moments, the festival livens up the evenings of a village that regains life and joy in the summer.
At the food stalls, you can enjoy traditional Carnic and Friulian dishes: frico, gnocchi, polenta, grilled meats, calamari, and homemade desserts. It's an opportunity to savour mountain cuisine in an authentic and popular setting, far from the more touristy circuits.
Between the lottery, the karaoke night, and dancing under the tent, the Sagra di San Rocco represents the ultimate gathering moment for Lauco. For those visiting Carnia in the summer, it is a precious opportunity to discover the traditions and hospitality of an alpine village in Friuli.
In 2026, Lauco once again celebrates its Sagra di San Rocco, the mid-summer patron saint's festival. Around August 16th, the Carnic village comes alive with evenings of music and gastronomy under the large covered tent, in one of the community's most cherished festivals.
Every evening, under the covered tent, the event features concerts, comedy shows, folk music, and revival nights with accordions and local bands. Food stalls offer frico, gnocchi, polenta, grilled meats, calamari, and desserts. Initiatives also include a lottery and a karaoke night.
The precise dates and detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced in the coming weeks on the Pro Loco and Municipality channels.
Lauco is located in Carnia (UD), reachable from the SS52 towards Tolmezzo and then by provincial roads leading up to the village.
Open in the evenings during the festival days, with a covered tent.
