The beer festival in Oktoberfest style amidst the Sappada Dolomites
When Ferragosto arrives, the big marquee of PlodarFest is set up in Sappada (Plodn): over 1,000 square meters decorated in Oktoberfest style, in the Eibn area, where for five evenings the beer flows from the barrels and the folk music never stops. The subtitle says it all: 'Folk a tutta birra' (Folk at full beer!).
The evenings start in the late afternoon and continue until late at night. Under the marquee, there are alternating live folk concerts, entertainment, and shows, while the catering service offers dishes from typical alpine and Sappada cuisine. The long, shared convivial tables, full of cheerfulness, recreate the atmosphere of the great Central European beer festivals, reinterpreted here with Sappada's German-speaking identity.
PlodarFest is not just about beer: it ends beautifully with the International Folklore Festival, which has been held on the following Sunday since 2013, transforming August in Sappada into a month of music, dances, and popular traditions. The event is promoted by Visit Sappada Dolomiti, in collaboration with the Gruppo Holzhockar and the Municipality of Sappada.
Beer mugs, music, traditional costumes, and the backdrop of the Dolomites: PlodarFest is the alpine and Friulian version of the beer festival, perfect for those seeking conviviality, good food, and lots of fun in the height of summer.
PlodarFest 2026 returns for Ferragosto with its eleventh edition: five evenings under the marquee of over 1,000 sq m in the Eibn area, from August 12th to 16th. Every evening, from 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM, enjoy live folk music, draft beer, typical dishes, and convivial tables.
The detailed musical program, including the names of the folk bands featured each of the five evenings, will be announced in the weeks preceding the event on the official channels of Visit Sappada Dolomiti. The format includes the opening of the marquee every evening from 5:00 PM, catering service, beer tapped from barrels, and folk concerts until 2:00 AM.
How to get there: Sappada is reachable by car from Carnia (SS52bis) or from Cadore; the Eibn area is located along the village. The nearest train station is Calalzo-Pieve di Cadore, with bus connections.
Opening hours: from 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM.
Admission: free entry to the marquee; consumption is charged.
Accommodation: wide range of accommodation available in the village; book in advance for the Ferragosto period.
