The potato, queen of the table for six evenings of celebration in Ovoledo
In July, at the festival grounds in Ovoledo di Zoppola, the "legendary" Sagra delle Patate (Potato Festival) returns, as the organizers affectionately call it. For six evenings, the potato becomes the undisputed queen of the table, in all its most delicious variations, in a festival that has been attracting gourmets and dancers from all over the Pordenone plain for years.
The potato is the absolute star of the menu: homemade gnocchi, frico (a Friulian cheese and potato dish), French fries, and potato salad lead a selection that also includes grilled meats, roast pork loin with tuna sauce, San Daniele ham, desserts, and drinks. Genuine and abundant cuisine, served in large covered areas that offer shelter from the whims of the summer weather.
The festival is not just about taste; its beating heart is the enormous dance floor, enlivened every evening by live orchestras and bands. Among the names that have performed on stage are orchestras like Rossella Ferrari e i Casanova, Luca Bergamini, Renzo Biondi, and Lara Agostini, as well as bands like Absolute5 and Cindy & The Rock History, for evenings of liscio (ballroom dancing), dancing, and music for all tastes.
Organized by the community of Ovoledo with the support of the Municipality of Zoppola, the festival is an event that mobilizes the entire hamlet, involving kitchens, setup, and hospitality. A classic of the Pordenone summer, where the simplicity of a tuber becomes an occasion for celebration and conviviality.
The 2026 edition offers six evenings of celebration on July 19, 20, 24, 26, 27, and 28. The menu places the potato at the center, with homemade gnocchi, frico, French fries, and potato salad, complemented by grilled meats, roast pork loin with tuna sauce, San Daniele ham, and desserts. Every evening, the large dance floor comes alive with live orchestras and bands.
