The Sagra della Ventricina celebrates the most renowned gastronomic product of Montenero di Bisaccia, in the province of Campobasso: the ventricina, a cured meat recognised as a Traditional Agri-Food Product (PAT) of Molise. Although widespread throughout the region, the most famous ventricina is precisely that of Montenero.
A cured meat with a decisive flavour
The ventricina of Montenero is produced with lean pork thigh meat, lard, salt, sweet paprika, chilli pepper, and fennel flowers: the pieces are seasoned for about 24 hours and then stuffed into the pig's bladder. The result is a noble cured meat with an unmistakable flavour, still handcrafted today according to local charcuterie tradition.

The sagra (festival), held in the summer, offers tastings, food stalls, and musical entertainment: an opportunity to discover the authentic flavours of Basso Molise and the peasant culture of Montenero di Bisaccia.
Sagra della Ventricina — edition 2026
In 2026, the Sagra della Ventricina will once again celebrate the most iconic cured meat of Montenero di Bisaccia during the summer. Following its second edition, the sagra renews its summer appointment with tastings, food stalls, and live music dedicated to the PAT ventricina of Molise. The exact date will be announced in the Municipality's Estate Montenerese programme.
