The Sagra della Rana is one of the most deeply rooted summer events in the territory of Osimo, a city in the Province of Ancona in the heart of Marche. It takes place in the hamlet of Passatempo, at the sports field, and for over forty years has enlivened August evenings with a simple and genuine format: traditional cuisine, food stalls, music, and outdoor dancing. Documented historical editions (the 34th in 2015, the 42nd in 2023) testify to the continuity of a festival that has become a landmark for the local community.
The frog, queen of the table
The symbolic dish of the festival is naturally the frog, prepared according to the traditional Marche peasant recipe: mainly fried frogs in batter, crispy and golden, but also cooked in other variations. Alongside the specialty that gives the event its name, the stalls offer the typical flavors of the hinterland: grilled meats, skewers, sausages, pasta dishes with meat or fish sauces, and traditional desserts. Everything is served at long outdoor tables, in a convivial atmosphere that is an integral part of the experience.
Music, dancing, and village atmosphere
The Sagra della Rana is not just about food: each evening is accompanied by live music, with folk orchestras and bands that get the public dancing until late at night. There are also games and entertainment designed for families and children, making the festival suitable for all ages. It is the classic Marche village festival, where the main value is togetherness.

How to get there
The festival is held at the sports field in Passatempo, a hamlet of Osimo (AN). By car, you can reach it from the Osimo exit of the A14 motorway or from the SS16 Adriatica. The nearest train station is Osimo-Castelfidardo, from which you can continue by car or bus.
