Polenta taragna with Branzi cheeses at PalaSpirà
The Sagra della Polenta Taragna is one of the most popular autumn gastronomic events in Spirano (Province of Bergamo). It takes place at the PalaSpirà, a covered venue on Via Sant'Antonio, and celebrates one of the symbolic dishes of the Orobic tradition, capable of bringing mountain flavours to the plain.
Polenta taragna is made from a mixture of corn and buckwheat flour, enriched with butter and cheese. In Spirano, the recipe features Branzi FTB cheese, supplied by the historic Caseificio di Branzi, which gives the polenta its typical creaminess. The result is a hearty and distinctive dish, served hot to the festival's guests.
In addition to the food, the festival offers live music and DJ sets every evening, markets, and entertainment for children, creating an atmosphere suitable for families and groups. The kitchen is open every evening, with lunch service on Sundays and some other days; given the turnout, multiple seatings and takeaway service are available.
Now in its many editions, the Sagra della Polenta Taragna has become an autumn classic in the Bergamo region and one of the flagship events in Spirano's calendar, attracting visitors from all over the province for three consecutive weekends.
The 2026 edition, the 11th, of the Sagra della Polenta Taragna returns to the PalaSpirà in Spirano (BG) over three weekends: from October 24 to 26, from October 31 to November 2, and from November 7 to 9. The star is the polenta taragna prepared with local corn and buckwheat flours, butter, and Branzi FTB cheese from the Caseificio di Branzi.
The kitchen is open every evening from 7 PM and, on Sundays and Saturday, November 1st, also for lunch from 12 PM. Every evening features live music, DJ sets, markets, and entertainment for children. Reservations are recommended, with multiple seatings available and takeaway service.
