The Sagra della Canaiola e dei Prodotti Tipici dell'Umbria takes place in Pretola, a hamlet of the Municipality of Perugia, stretching along the Tiber River and recognisable by its ancient medieval tower, a symbol of the village. Organised by the Associazione per Pretola APS, the event enlivens the village on late September evenings with food, wine, and shows.
Canaiola wine, the absolute star
The heart of the festival is Canaiola, an ancient grape variety and sweet wine of Umbrian tradition that gives the sagra its name. Alongside the wine, the stalls offer the best of regional typical products and a peasant cuisine that brings to the table:

The Sagra della Canaiola e dei Prodotti Tipici dell'Umbria 2026 returns to Pretola, a hamlet of Perugia, from September 18th to 27th. Under the medieval tower of the village along the Tiber, the stalls of the Associazione per Pretola will offer Canaiola wine and traditional Umbrian dishes — tagliatelle with goose sauce, pappardelle with wild boar, scottadito lamb — while every evening features alternating dancing, live music, and theatrical performances.

How to get there
Pretola is located a few kilometres from Perugia centre, along the Tiber towards Ponte Felcino. It is easily reachable by car; the Ponte San Giovanni railway station is among the closest.
