Goose: the queen of the table
The Sagra dell'Oca in Bettona, in the province of Perugia, is one of the longest-standing and most beloved gastronomic festivals in central Umbria. Now in its forty-second edition, the festival is entirely dedicated to traditional goose-based recipes — roasted, stewed, with baked potatoes — which have been attracting gourmets from all over the region for decades.
Ten days of celebration
Every evening, the stands and volunteers of the Pro Loco of Bettona welcome visitors to the Gardens of Santa Caterina to enjoy typical specialties and authentic local flavors, from appetizer to dessert. The village center, particularly Piazza Cavour, transforms into a large open-air restaurant, enlivened by live performances that invite dancing and singing from 10:00 PM onwards.
Between gastronomy and tradition
In addition to the pleasures of the table, the Sagra dell'Oca offers evenings of live music, family entertainment, historical processions, and games in the square. It's an opportunity to discover Bettona, an Etruscan village listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, and its food and wine tradition in the heart of Umbria.
Sagra dell'Oca — edition 2026
The 42nd edition of the Sagra dell'Oca enlivens Bettona from July 31 to August 9, 2026. Every evening, at the Gardens of Santa Caterina, the stand and volunteers of the Pro Loco of Bettona offer typical specialties and authentic local flavors, with goose as the star in all its variations. In Piazza Cavour, live performances take place starting at 10:00 PM, designed for dancing and singing.

Evening format (July 31 – August 9, 2026)
- Every evening — opening of the gastronomic stand at the Gardens of Santa Caterina with a goose-based menu (roasted, stewed, with baked potatoes) and typical dishes from appetizer to dessert
- From 10:00 PM — live performances and music in Piazza Cavour
- Family entertainment, historical processions, and games in the square

How to get there
Bettona can be reached by car from the E45 (Torgiano-Bettona exit) or the SS75 Centrale Umbra. The nearest station is Assisi-Santa Maria degli Angeli, with onward travel by bus or taxi. Parking is available on the outskirts of the historic center.
Food stands
The Pro Loco stand in the Gardens of Santa Caterina is open every evening; live shows in Piazza Cavour from 10:00 PM. Reservations are recommended on peak evenings.
