The scorzone, truffle of Monte Peglia

The Sagra del Tartufo Scorzone del Monte Peglia takes place in San Venanzo, in the province of Terni, and celebrates the prized scorzone truffle (the summer black truffle) that grows in the woods of Monte Peglia, an area recognized as a UNESCO MAB Biosphere Reserve. It is one of the most anticipated festivals of the summer in the Alto Tiberina and Umbria regions for truffle lovers.

A rich truffle-based menu

In the food stands, set up in the gardens of Villa Faina, the scorzone is the undisputed star: it seasons appetizers, first courses, and meat dishes, alongside specialties of Umbrian tradition such as torta al testo. The festival is organized by the volunteers of the Association of Truffle Hunters of San Venanzo in collaboration with AFOR (Regional Forestry Agency) and with the patronage of the Municipality of San Venanzo.

Music and conviviality in the greenery

Every evening the festival is accompanied by live music with orchestras and bands, in a convivial atmosphere that attracts visitors from all over the area. The Sagra dello Scorzone is also an opportunity to discover the territory of Monte Peglia, its nature, and the culture of the truffle, one of Umbria's excellent products.
