Ancient flavours of Umbrian tradition in the village of Perugino
Fontignano a Tavola is a popular festival held in Fontignano, a hamlet of the Municipality of Perugia located on the hills sloping down to Lake Trasimeno. The village is linked to the memory of Pietro Vannucci, known as Perugino, one of the masters of the Italian Renaissance, who spent the last years of his life in Fontignano and is buried there: a detail that adds charm and history to an already deeply felt sagra.
The heart of the event is the traditional Umbrian cuisine: the menus rediscover the ancient flavours of the local tradition, with peasant dishes prepared according to old recipes. The food stands offer the best of the region's gastronomy, in a convivial and family atmosphere that is the real secret to the success of this festival.
In addition to food, Fontignano a Tavola is above all about fun: every evening the festival offers live music and dancing, transforming the village into a meeting point for locals and visitors. One of those village sagre that preserve the most authentic soul of Umbria, where the pleasure of food is combined with that of being together.
The 2026 edition, the 40th, confirms Fontignano a Tavola among the most renowned sagre in the Perugia area. From July 17 to 26, in the village of Perugino, the food stands will offer menus dedicated to the ancient flavours of Umbrian tradition, with local peasant dishes. Every evening, the festival comes alive with live music and dancing, in a festive and convivial atmosphere that draws visitors from all over the Perugia and Trasimeno region.
Ten days of festivities, from July 17 to 26, with food stands open every evening.
The detailed evening programme will be published by the Pro Loco of Fontignano in the days preceding the event.
