About Ruchè Festival

The Ruchè Festival is the event that celebrates the Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG, one of Piedmont's most distinctive red wines, in the heart of the Monferrato area near Asti. For an entire weekend, the historic Tenuta La Mercantile in Castagnole Monferrato opens its frescoed halls and Italian-style garden for a grand tasting that brings together local producers. With tasting tables, meetings with winemakers, food stands featuring local specialties, and live music, the event is an unmissable opportunity to discover the authentic soul of this aromatic wine and its rolling landscape.

The festival of the iconic wine of the Monferrato area

The Ruchè Festival is the event dedicated to Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG, an aromatic red wine that stands out as one of the most recognizable and characteristic labels of Piedmont. The event takes place in the town of Castagnole Monferrato, in the Province of Asti, in the heart of the hilly Monferrato landscape that gives this grape variety its name and character. Promoted by the Consorzio Barbera d'Asti e Vini del Monferrato in collaboration with the Go Wine association, the festival attracts enthusiasts, curious visitors, and industry professionals for a weekend entirely dedicated to discovering Ruchè and its territory.

The setting: Tenuta La Mercantile

The heart of the event is Tenuta La Mercantile, a splendid historic complex dating back to the late 17th century, surrounded by the greenery of an Italian-style garden. Tastings are held inside the evocative frescoed halls of the estate, while the outdoor areas remain freely accessible to everyone. A perfect blend of historic architecture, wine-growing landscape, and wine culture, which makes Castagnole Monferrato the ideal capital of Ruchè.

Tastings and producers

The central moment of the festival is the grand tasting table, which brings together numerous local wineries with their various interpretations of Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG. Visitors can freely taste the wines and meet the producers directly, listening to the stories and choices hidden behind every bottle. A designation that has grown significantly in recent years, now exceeding one million bottles produced annually, thanks to its contemporary style and its strong gastronomic vocation.

Gastronomy, music, and atmosphere

Beyond the wine, the Ruchè Festival offers a rich program featuring food stands with local specialties paired with wines, a retail point for bottles, and live music. On Saturday evening, the atmosphere comes alive with live concerts, transforming the estate into a place of celebration and conviviality. An event that combines quality food and wine, tradition, and sociality, in the true spirit of Monferrato.

A wine, a territorial identity

Ruchè is much more than a wine: it is the expression of a precise territorial identity, that of the Monferrato area near Asti, a land of vineyard-covered hills recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Ruchè Festival tells the story of this deep bond between the grape, its producers, and the landscape, offering Italian and international visitors the chance to understand the specificity of a designation that has managed to establish itself in the markets without losing its authenticity.
