The grand dance festival at Cinecittà World for International Dance Day
The Rome Dance Competition is one of the most anticipated dance events in the Roman area. It takes place at Cinecittà World, the cinema and television-themed park located in the Castel Romano district, within the Municipality of Rome, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio region. Born to celebrate International Dance Day, the competition transforms the park's theaters into a large open-air laboratory dedicated to the art of movement.
The event celebrates International Dance Day, an annual occasion that unites dancers and enthusiasts from all over the world. The goal is to promote and unite the dance community, offering schools, students, and professionals an opportunity for training, exchange, and performance. The format includes days of camps, masterclasses, and a final competition involving various categories and age groups.
The heart of the event lies in the masterclasses held by some of the most well-known names in Italian dance and entertainment. Masters who have led the sessions include:
The artistic direction is entrusted to long-standing figures such as Andre De La Roche, Ilir Shaqiri, and Piero Zinna.
The competition is open to dancers of all levels and covers the main dance styles: classical, modern, contemporary, hip hop, and urban. Performances are evaluated by a qualified jury, and the best performers receive awards in their respective categories, from the youngest to senior groups.
The Rome Dance Competition is held under the patronage of CID-UNESCO (International Dance Council), ACSI, and the Italian National Fair Play Committee, elements that highlight its international vocation and educational value, beyond its purely competitive nature.
Hosting the event in a theme park like Cinecittà World adds a unique charm: dancers and families can combine participation in the competition with the park experience, amidst reconstructed film sets, theaters, and attractions. It is a way to experience dance in one of the most original settings in the Roman territory.
In 2026, the Rome Dance Competition once again brought its training and performance formula dedicated to dance to Cinecittà World, in the Municipality of Rome. The event combined masterclasses from great masters with the competition, ranging from classical repertoire to urban styles, in an atmosphere of exchange between schools and students from different Italian regions.
The event confirmed its international vocation, with the patronage of CID-UNESCO and the participation of teachers and professionals recognized in the Italian dance scene.
The event followed its consolidated formula: days of camps and masterclasses in dance and urban sectors, followed by the competition with evaluation by a qualified jury. Masters historically involved in the lessons include Alessandra Celentano, Emanuel Lo, Anbeta Toromani, Alessio La Padula, Simone Ginanneschi, Spillo, Federica Soncin, and Milena Zullo. The artistic direction is entrusted to Andre De La Roche, Ilir Shaqiri, and Piero Zinna.
Cinecittà World is located at Via di Castel Romano 200, in Rome (Lazio), just a few minutes from the Grande Raccordo Anulare and easily accessible from the city center. By car, take the GRA exit towards Castel Romano; the park has ample parking available on event days. Shuttle services from major stations are often available; it is advisable to check the updated procedures on the official website.
Participation in the competition and masterclasses requires registration, while entry to the park follows the formulas published on the Cinecittà World website. We recommend checking the official event page for updated rates, schedules, and regulations.
