About Chiara's Run

Chiara's Run is a running event held in Rome along the Via Amalia Camboni cycle path in the Torrino-Mezzocammino district. Established in memory of Chiara Speranza, a young Roman woman who lost her life in a road accident, the event features a 10 km competitive race and a 5 km non-competitive walk open to everyone, combining sport with the promotion of road safety culture under the patronage of the State Police. It is a day of solidarity and remembrance that brings together athletes, families, and children in a shared commitment to prevention.

Chiara's Run: Running in Rome for Road Safety

Chiara's Run is an annual running event held in Rome, within the territory of Rome Capital and the Lazio region, along the Via Amalia Camboni cycle path in the city's south-western area (Torrino-Mezzocammino district). It is more than just a race: it is a collective gesture of remembrance and civic engagement, created to honor Chiara Speranza, a twenty-three-year-old Roman woman who passed away on December 3, 2022, in Milan following a road accident.

A Race with a Message

The event has a dual purpose: to honor the memory of Chiara and all road accident victims, and to shine a light on the tragedy of road accidents while spreading a culture of safe driving, especially among the youth. With a slogan that invites people to run and walk together for road safety, the event turns sport into a tool for awareness and prevention.

Two Courses for Everyone

The day offers two distances designed to involve everyone:

  • a 10 km competitive race (approx. 9,900 meters), reserved for registered athletes, on a mixed undulating track entirely on the cycle path, with a 5 km loop to be run twice;
  • a 5 km non-competitive walk, a fun and recreational activity open to everyone, from children to the elderly, to experience the event in a spirit of participation and solidarity.

Patronage of the State Police

Chiara's Run takes place under the patronage of the State Police, which actively participates with the famous Pullman Azzurro (Blue Bus) of the Traffic Police: a mobile multimedia classroom where agents and educators engage adults and children with driving simulators and special visors that replicate the effects of alcohol and drugs on perception. The initiative is also supported by the Sapienza University of Rome, the ANIA Foundation, the Municipality, and the Torrino Mezzocammino Consortium.

Sport, Solidarity, and Community

Organized by the associations A.S.D. Podistica Solidarietà, A.S.D. Piano ma Arriviamo, and ASD Lbm Sport Team, the event has a strong charitable focus: part of the proceeds supports projects dedicated to road safety and prevention. Each edition attracts hundreds of participants, including competitive runners, enthusiasts, and casual walkers, who gather on Via Amalia Camboni to share a morning of running, remembrance, and commitment. An appointment that, edition after edition, has become a benchmark for Roman running and for those who believe that sport can build a safer road culture.
