The national event dedicated to love in the Marsican village of Tagliacozzo
The Romantic Night in the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy is a national event promoted by the I Borghi piรน belli d'Italia association. On the Saturday closest to the summer solstice, it transforms the historic centers of participating villages into romantic, love-themed settings. In Tagliacozzo, a stunning village in the Marsica region of the province of L'Aquila, the festival brings squares and alleys to life with live music, light installations, and shared moments, drawing couples, families, and visitors from across Abruzzo.
The heart of the event is the historic center of Tagliacozzo, with its monumental squares: Piazza dell'Obelisco, Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi, Piazza Argoli, and Piazzale Municipio. The evening comes alive in the late afternoon and continues until late at night, featuring musical stages, open-air performances, craft markets, and activities designed for children.
Nestled at the foot of Monte Aurunzo, along the historic road connecting Rome to the interior of Abruzzo, Tagliacozzo is famous for its elegant medieval and Renaissance center, Piazza dell'Obelisco, and the Teatro Talia. As part of the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy network, the town in the Abruzzo Region celebrates one of its most popular summer evenings during the Romantic Night, showcasing the village's identity and the community's deep bond with its heritage.
On Saturday, June 20, 2026, Tagliacozzo hosted the Romantic Night in the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy under the theme "Love for the villages, our memories, and the bond that unites us." The evening began at 4:00 PM with the setup of the Bench of Love in Piazza Argoli and the opening of the craft market in Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi. From 5:30 PM, Piazzale Municipio hosted entertainment and shows for children by Metamorfosi.
The highlight occurred at 7:30 PM in Piazza dell'Obelisco with "Look out the window, my love", an open-air performance from the balconies of the historic center, created by the Maxima Entropia Cultural Association and OndeRadioRecords, featuring Mauro Mengali and Antonella Bucci. From 9:00 PM, musical stages animated Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi, while local restaurants and bars offered themed culinary experiences.
Tagliacozzo can be reached by car via the A25 Rome-Pescara motorway (Tagliacozzo exit). The Tagliacozzo train station is on the Rome-Pescara/Avezzano line.
The event takes place throughout the historic center and is free to attend. Gastronomic offerings at restaurants and bars are available for purchase according to individual menus.
