A night of love and candlelight music in the heart of the Itria Valley
In the heart of the Itria Valley, in the province of Bari, the town of Locorotondo participates every year in the Romantic Night in the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy. This national event, promoted by the 'I Borghi più Belli d'Italia' association, lights up the most evocative historic centers of the peninsula with candles, torches, and soft lighting at the end of June. For one night, the entire Apulian village transforms into an open-air stage dedicated to love, slow living, and the wonder of authentic places.
Locorotondo owes its name to the perfectly circular layout of its historic center, a maze of narrow alleys, whitewashed houses, and the characteristic cummerse—dwellings with sloping roofs that make this corner of Puglia unique. Overlooking the Itria Valley, surrounded by trulli, olive groves, and vineyards, the village offers a naturally romantic setting that glows with even more intense charm on this late June night.
The highlight of the evening is the string concert in an exceptional setting: the Historic Garden of Masseria Ferragnano, on Via Cisternino, where music intertwines with the evocative atmosphere created by candlelight. In past editions, Locorotondo, together with nearby Cisternino, has hosted refined harp and cello concerts among the trulli and cummerse, confirming the musical and sentimental vocation of this special night.
The Romantic Night unites every participating village through shared symbolic gestures: the Pensiero d'Amore (Thought of Love) dessert, created by a Michelin-starred chef and served in participating restaurants as a sweet tribute to lovers, and above all, the famous midnight kiss, accompanied by the release of branded biodegradable balloons, which concludes the evening in an atmosphere of shared magic. Squares, palaces, and alleys fill with music, lights, and romance in an experience that engages both residents and visitors.
Organized by the Municipality of Locorotondo in collaboration with local cultural associations, the Romantic Night has become a highly anticipated event at the start of the Apulian summer. It is the ideal opportunity to discover the village in a new light and enjoy an evening dedicated to beauty, music, and emotion, in the spirit of a tradition that celebrates Italy's small historic centers.
For the 2026 edition of the Romantic Night in the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy, scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026, Locorotondo presented the Candle Light Harmony Concert, a string concert immersed in the evocative atmosphere created by candlelight.
The chosen setting was the Historic Garden of Masseria Ferragnano, at Via Cisternino 282, a 19th-century garden just a few steps from the village center. Two performances were offered, each lasting one hour, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM and from 10:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with free admission until capacity was reached. The event was organized by the Municipality of Locorotondo in collaboration with local cultural associations.
Locorotondo is located in the Itria Valley, in the province of Bari. By car, it can be reached via the SS172 dei Trulli road. The Locorotondo train station is served by Ferrovie del Sud Est; the nearest airports are Bari-Palese and Brindisi-Casale. The Historic Garden of Masseria Ferragnano is located just a few minutes from the center, with access from Via Cisternino, 282.
Admission to the candlelight concerts is free until capacity is reached. We recommend arriving early.
The Romantic Night traditionally takes place on an evening in late June.
