A night dedicated to love in Città Sant'Angelo, amidst alleys of art and memories
Every year, near the summer solstice, the Municipality of Città Sant'Angelo, in the province of Pescara, takes part in the Romantic Night in the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy, a major widespread event promoted by the national association I Borghi più belli d'Italia. In just one night, over two hundred historic centers across the peninsula transform into settings dedicated to love, memories, and the beauty of the locations, united by a common theme and the same spirit of hospitality.
Perched on a hill about 320 meters above sea level, between the Adriatic Sea and the Majella mountains, Città Sant'Angelo is one of the most elegant villages in the Abruzzo region and a proud member of the "Most Beautiful Villages of Italy" club. Its characteristic "spindle" layout, with a long main street intersected by narrow alleys, preserves noble palaces, medieval churches, and the splendid Collegiate Church of San Michele Arcangelo, which became a collegiate church in 1353 and is embellished by a fine portico. A refined urban setting, the ideal backdrop for a romantic evening away from the crowds.
In Città Sant'Angelo, the Romantic Night is designed as an intimate and participatory experience that weaves the discovery of heritage with the theme of love. The heart of the evening is a free guided tour through the most evocative alleys of the historic center, with a cultural focus on the ancient traditions of Abruzzese weddings. The village lights up with soft glows, while live music, installations, and tastings accompany residents and visitors alike.
The strength of the Romantic Night lies in combining a national dimension with the unique identity of each individual village. In Città Sant'Angelo, the event becomes an opportunity to rediscover the community's collective memory, enhance the historic center, and share the traditions of the Province of Pescara and all of Abruzzo. In a context of slow and sustainable tourism, the evening invites you to slow down, listen, and let yourself be surprised by the authentic beauty of one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
On Saturday, June 20, 2026, Città Sant'Angelo hosted the eleventh edition of the Romantic Night, part of the national theme "Love for Memories." The Pescara village presented the event "Romantic Night 2026 – The Alleys of Art and Love," featuring a free guided tour through the most evocative corners of the historic center, departing from the Infopoint, and an in-depth look at the tradition of the Abruzzese wedding. As in all participating villages, the evening concluded with the official "Pensiero d'Amore" dessert. Città Sant'Angelo was one of the fourteen municipalities in Abruzzo and Molise to participate in the national initiative.
Città Sant'Angelo can be reached by car via the A14 motorway (Città Sant'Angelo-Pescara Nord exit), just a few kilometers from the toll booth. The nearest train station is in Montesilvano, on the Adriatic line, while the reference airport is Pescara-Abruzzo. The historic center is served by parking lots in the immediate vicinity.
The event takes place in the historic center, which is pedestrian-only. Participation in the evening and the guided tour is free; some tastings may require a small contribution. The meeting point for the guided tour is generally at the Infopoint. Comfortable shoes are recommended for walking through the stone alleys.
