The grape harvest festival among the vines of San Lorenzo Vini, in the Colline Teramane hills
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
When the grapes are ripe and the vines turn shades of gold and red, the San Lorenzo Vini winery in Castilenti, in the heart of the Colline Teramane (Teramo, Abruzzo), joins Cantine Aperte in Vendemmia, an event promoted by the Movimento Turismo del Vino Abruzzo. This autumnal edition is perhaps the most authentic of the famous wine tourism format: visitors don't just come to taste, but to actively participate in the ritual of the grape harvest.
The experience centers on direct involvement in vineyard work. Visitors can stroll through the rows, follow the harvesting stages, watch the pressing process, and learn firsthand how wine is made. The day includes guided tastings of the winery's own labels, paired with local specialties, and convivial moments with lunch served outdoors among the estate's vineyards.
One of the most beloved aspects of the autumn edition is the family focus: the children's harvest allows the little ones to pick grapes directly from the vine and relive the ancient tradition of barefoot grape stomping to create must. In the afternoon, local entertainers keep the children busy while adults continue with tastings and conversation.
San Lorenzo Vini is one of the most prominent wine producers in the province of Teramo: a family of winemakers who have been cultivating this land since 1890, currently managing about 150 hectares of vines on a 220-hectare estate. The winery is best known for its native Abruzzo wines—from Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colline Teramane DOCG to Cerasuolo, Trebbiano, and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo—and is a member of the Colli Aprutini Wine Route. Cantine Aperte in Vendemmia is the perfect opportunity to discover the winery, its vineyards, and its hospitality during the peak of the season.
The Castilenti winery is part of the regional calendar for Cantine Aperte in Vendemmia, which involves numerous Abruzzo producers between late September and October. Participating means joining a broader journey of discovery through the territory, exploring the hills, vineyards, and rural traditions that bring the Abruzzo autumn to life.
The dates for the 2026 edition of Cantine Aperte in Vendemmia at San Lorenzo Vini have not yet been officially announced. The event, promoted by the Movimento Turismo del Vino Abruzzo, traditionally takes place in autumn during the grape harvest. As soon as the Castilenti winery announces the date, program, and booking procedures for 2026, this page will be updated with all the information.
