An evening of romance, history, and live music in the historic center of Calascibetta
The Romantic Night in the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy is a national event promoted by the I Borghi più belli d'Italia Association, which, on one June evening, simultaneously lights up over two hundred villages from the north to the south of the peninsula. In Calascibetta, in the province of Enna, the initiative becomes an evening of rediscovery, weaving together history, romance, and live music within the evocative medieval historic center.
Calascibetta, which joined the 'Most Beautiful Villages of Italy' circuit in 2021, is a hilltop town in central Sicily, facing Enna. Its name derives from the Arabic Qal'at Shibel, and the village was fortified by Count Roger I of Hauteville around 1062. Strolling through the Romantic Night means getting lost in the alleys and courtyards of the oldest part of town, climbing from Piazza Umberto I towards the Mother Church and the Tower of Saint Peter, in a maze that tells the story of the Norman village and the ancient Jewish quarter of Via Giudea.
The local festivities offer a unique format, curated by the Pro Loco Calascibetta with the support of the Fiat 500 Club Italia – Enna and Museum Coordination and in collaboration with Ochianu. Highlights animating the historic center include:
Against this backdrop, the national theme for the 2026 edition, «Love for Memories», invites visitors to rediscover traditions and cultural roots, while the medieval streets glow with soft, romantic lighting.
Despite its local character, the Calascibetta evening shares the spirit of the national event: concerts, performances, regional culinary tastings, and the famous midnight kiss that concludes the night in many villages. It is an opportunity to experience inland Sicily away from the beaten tourist paths, discovering an authentic village during one of its most scenic nights.
The 2026 edition of the Romantic Night in Calascibetta took place on Saturday, June 20, as part of the eleventh national edition promoted by the I Borghi più belli d'Italia Association under the theme «Love for Memories». The evening, described by organizers as a rediscovery of the village blending history, romance, and live music, brought the evocative medieval historic center to life.
The program, curated by the Pro Loco Calascibetta with the support of the Fiat 500 Club Italia – Enna and Museum Coordination and in collaboration with Ochianu, featured a vintage car parade, Love Photobooth stations, and a live concert by the band Jammin Love through the illuminated streets of the town.
Organized by the Pro Loco Calascibetta, in collaboration with Ochianu.
Calascibetta is located in the province of Enna, in the heart of Sicily. By car, it can be reached via the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway (Enna exit), then continuing along the SS117bis. Enna train station is the closest; from there, you can continue by car or bus.
The event is traditionally held in the third week of June, coinciding with the national Romantic Night of the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy.
Events in the historic center are free to attend. We recommend wearing comfortable footwear for the cobblestone streets of the medieval village.
