The international street performers festival in Rome
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Roma Buskers Festival is the premier international event dedicated to street art in the Capital. Conceived, produced, and managed by Gruppo Matches srl under the artistic direction of Andrea Cicini, the festival transformed the Ostia seafront in the Municipality of Rome (Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, Lazio) for six editions into a massive open-air stage animated by musicians, jugglers, mimes, acrobats, and performers from all over the world.
The festival's formula is typical of major busker events: not just a single stage, but a multitude of performance spots distributed along the route, where the public can stroll freely and encounter ever-changing shows. Live music, street theatre, contemporary circus, juggling, flamenco, mime, and fire performances follow one another throughout the evenings, featuring a central stage dedicated to concerts and a spectacular final jam session that brings all the artists together.
One of the hallmarks of the Roma Buskers Festival is its completely free entry: street art is born to be accessible to everyone, and the festival maintains this inclusive, popular vocation. Alongside the shows, previous editions have hosted street food areas, craft and vintage markets, and collaborations with social organizations, such as clown therapy projects in hospitals.
After six editions hosted at the Porto Turistico di Roma in Ostia, the event has announced a change in direction: the collaboration with the Port has concluded, and the festival is evolving into a widespread format, designed to bring street art to multiple locations across the Roman territory while awaiting the identification of a new permanent home. This evolution confirms the growth of an event capable of attracting tens of thousands of spectators and making Rome a reference point for busking culture in Lazio and Italy.
The Roma Buskers Festival is the ideal opportunity to experience the Roman summer in a different way: an evening stroll filled with music, color, and wonder, suitable for families, young people, and live performance enthusiasts. It is art stepping out of theatres to meet the city, in a festive atmosphere that unites residents and tourists in one large open-air square.
The Roma Buskers Festival 2026 marks a turning point in the history of the event. Following the conclusion of the collaboration with the Porto Turistico di Roma in Ostia, the festival promoted by Gruppo Matches announces a new widespread format, distributed across multiple locations in the Municipality of Rome, while awaiting the identification of a permanent home for future editions.
As of the publication date of this entry, exact dates, involved locations, and the program for the 2026 edition have not yet been made official. It is recommended to consult the festival's official channels for updates.
The first six editions were held at the Porto Turistico di Roma, at Lungomare Duca degli Abruzzi 84, in Ostia (Rome). From 2026, the event adopts a widespread format across multiple locations in the Roman territory: it is recommended to check updated locations and dates on the official channels.
Ostia is connected to the center of Rome by the Roma-Lido railway (Lido Centro and Stella Polare stations) and by the Via del Mare / Via Cristoforo Colombo by car. In summer, the use of public transport is recommended to reach the coast.
Entry to the festival is free.
