The independent music festival in Montespertoli, in the heart of Tuscany
Every July, Montespertoli, a small town in the Florentine Chianti region known for its wine and olive oil, transforms into an open-air stage. RockUnMonte is the independent music festival that has been bringing Piazza del Popolo, in the historic town center, to life since 2012 with concerts, talks, and art. In 2026, it celebrates its fourteenth edition, confirming its status as one of the most established and anticipated events of the summer in the province of Florence.
RockUnMonte is more than just a concert lineup. Its identity lies in blending the best of the Italian indie and singer-songwriter scene with a program of thematic talks on civil and social issues—from gender-based violence and inclusion to the right to health—complemented by a rich array of initiatives: street food featuring local dishes and international flavors, a creative market of artisans, designers, and illustrators, workshops, activities for families and children, and DJ sets that continue until late at night.
RockUnMonte takes place in Montespertoli, in the province of Florence, in the heart of Tuscany. The festival is held in mid-summer, in July, with evening concerts in Piazza del Popolo and activities spread throughout the historic center. Set against the backdrop of the Chianti hills, a short distance from Florence, Empoli, and the Valdelsa, it is the ideal destination for those looking to combine live music, good food, and a stroll through the vineyards.
Promoted by the Vitamina M association with the patronage of the Municipality of Montespertoli, RockUnMonte demonstrates how a small Tuscan town can create a high-quality, free musical event with a strong cultural and civic vocation.
The 2026 edition of RockUnMonte, the fourteenth since the festival's inception, will be held in Montespertoli from Friday, July 10, to Sunday, July 12, 2026. The event remains completely free and doubles its live performance spaces in the town center, with Piazza del Popolo serving as the beating heart. Alongside the concerts, the program confirms social and civic-themed talks, street food, a creative market, and late-night DJ sets that have always characterized the festival.
As per tradition, the main acts are preceded by thematic talks (generally starting at 7:00 PM) and performances by the winners of the contest dedicated to emerging bands and musicians, while the town center hosts street food, a craft market, and DJ sets until late at night. The full program with other artists and detailed schedules will be announced by the organization in the weeks leading up to the festival.
