Music, theatre, and words beneath the walls of the Castello di Roccella, by the sea in Campofelice
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Roccamaris – Summer Encounters at the Castle is one of the most anticipated cultural events of the summer in Campofelice di Roccella, a small town in the province of Palermo overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, at the foot of the Madonie Park. The heart of the festival is the Castello di Roccella (also known as the Torre di Roccella), an ancient coastal fortification that, for a few evenings in August, turns into a natural stage set against stone walls and the backdrop of the sea.
The Roccamaris program weaves together diverse genres and languages: concerts ranging from classical to modern music, musical comedies, original Sicilian folk music, and theatrical shows designed for families and children. The idea driving the festival is as simple as it is ambitious: to use the arts to enhance local historical heritage and strengthen the sense of community, in the belief that culture can breathe new life into the memory of places.
The festival is curated by the Associazione Roccamaris APS with the support of the Municipality of Campofelice di Roccella and local entities, and relies largely on the work of volunteers. Established in the mid-2010s, Roccamaris has grown edition after edition to become a permanent fixture in the summer calendar of the Palermo coast, attracting both residents and tourists to one of the most popular seaside resorts in northern Sicily.
All Roccamaris events are free of charge: the festival was born with the specific goal of making culture accessible to everyone and opening the doors of the Castle to the community. Performances generally take place in the evening, when the cool night air and the sea view make the manor's setting even more evocative.
The dates and detailed program for the 2026 edition of Roccamaris – Summer Encounters at the Castle have not yet been officially announced.
