The Conte Verde and the grand parade of allegorical floats beneath the Rivoli Mole
The Rivoli Carnival is a long-standing tradition that every winter transforms the city center on the outskirts of Turin into a grand stage of color, music, and masks. Now in its 72nd edition in 2026, it is organized by the Pro Loco of Rivoli in collaboration with the City of Rivoli and with the support of the Piedmont Region and the Metropolitan City of Turin. The event takes place over several days, from late January to mid-February, involving the entire Rivoli community, from the historic center to the Cascine Vica district.
The heart of the carnival is the Conte Verde, the official mask inspired by the historical figure of Amadeus VI of Savoy (1334-1383), one of the protagonists of the Piedmontese Middle Ages who was deeply connected to Rivoli, the seat of the Savoyard court in the 14th century. The nickname comes from the green attire he wore during a famous tournament in 1353. The carnival opens with the investiture ceremony of the Conte Verde and the symbolic handing over of the city keys by the Mayor, a moment that recalls the medieval roots and the pride of the community.
The calendar alternates between institutional moments and social gatherings designed for families and children:
In the weeks leading up to the event, the Conte Verde and the Amedeo VI Historical Group visit local schools with theatrical performances to share the historical roots of Rivoli with the younger generation.
The Rivoli Carnival is more than just a show; it is an opportunity for connection that unites generations and neighborhoods. In recent years, the event has also opened its doors to accessibility and inclusion initiatives, a sign of a carnival that remains faithful to its popular tradition while looking to the future. For those visiting the Province of Turin in winter, it is the ideal opportunity to discover one of Piedmont's most heartfelt celebrations in a city that preserves a rich Savoyard heritage, from the Casa del Conte Verde to the Castle, home to the Museum of Contemporary Art.
The 72nd Rivoli Carnival took place from January 26 to February 15, 2026. The investiture ceremony of the Conte Verde (inspired by Amadeus VI of Savoy) with the symbolic handing over of the city keys by Mayor Alessandro Errigo kicked off the celebrations. Among the main events: Saturday, February 7, the Children's Carnival at 3:00 PM, with a parade from Largo Pistoia in Cascine Vica to the Giardini Falcone; Friday, February 13, at 8:00 PM, the masquerade ball at the Centro Incontro Don Puglisi, with dinner, entertainment, and awards for the best costumes; Sunday, February 15, from 2:00 PM, the grand parade of allegorical floats along Corso Francia, with bands and majorettes. A new feature of this edition was an accessible station with technologies for LIS (Italian Sign Language), Braille, and AAC.
Rivoli is located west of Turin and is easily accessible by car from the Turin ring road (Rivoli exit) and in a few minutes from Corso Francia. By train, the reference station is Turin; from there, continue with GTT public transport (metro to Fermi and then bus, or direct lines to Rivoli and Cascine Vica). The nearest airport is Turin-Caselle.
Events take place between late January and mid-February. The grand parade of allegorical floats travels along Corso Francia (starting from Corso Susa, at the corner of Via Nizza). The Children's Carnival starts from Largo Pistoia in Cascine Vica.
The float parade and street events are free and open to everyone. The masquerade ball may require a participation fee for dinner. For information: Pro Loco di Rivoli, tel. +39 011 9561996, [email protected].
