Piacenza's classical and baroque music festival
The Rinascimusica Festival is one of the most refined musical offerings in the cultural calendar of Piacenza, the capital of Emilia-Romagna on the banks of the Po River. Promoted by the Rinascimusica Association in collaboration with the municipal administration, the festival accompanies the public every spring on a journey through great classical and baroque music, while also highlighting some of the city's most beautiful venues: the Auditorium of Fondazione Piacenza e Vigevano, the historic halls of Palazzo Farnese, and the evocative spaces of the Ex Church of San Cristoforo.
The 2026 edition bears the evocative title "In fuga", with a dual meaning. On one hand, "fuga" (flight) as a means of liberation: music as a refuge from wars, daily difficulties, and injustices, capable of offering comfort and hope. On the other hand, the musical form of the fugue, one of the highest expressions of musical ingenuity, immortalized especially by Johann Sebastian Bach. The program thus traverses Bach, Vivaldi, and the great suggestions of European music.
The 2026 edition features prominent national and international performers, including cellist Marcello Scandelli and the collaboration of the Academia Montis Regalis of Mondovรฌ, a reference point for the practice and dissemination of baroque music. The festival is made possible by the support of Fondazione di Piacenza e Vigevano, Confindustria Piacenza, and Banca di Piacenza.
Rinascimusica is a precious opportunity to hear often-underrepresented repertoire, performed by top-level musicians in settings of great historical and artistic value. It is an event designed both for lovers of ancient music and for those who want to discover baroque and classical music in an intimate and engaging context, in the heart of the province of Piacenza and the Emilia-Romagna region.
The 2026 edition of the Rinascimusica Festival bears the title "In fuga" and is structured into three evenings, all at 9 PM. It opens on May 30 at the Auditorium of Fondazione Piacenza e Vigevano with "Music without borders", a quintet of violin, piano, clarinet, accordion, and double bass performing music by Scarlatti, Mendelssohn, Iturralde, and Piazzolla, with dance. On June 6, in the Ex Church of San Cristoforo, "Europe in music" will be presented with strings, the harpsichord of Federico Perotti, and the percussion of Maestro Stefanuto, performing works by Telemann, Boccherini, and Praetorius. The festival concludes on June 20 in Hall 7 of Palazzo Farnese with "The voice of the cello", featuring baroque soloist Marcello Scandelli, accompanied by a string ensemble and harpsichord. The edition benefits from the collaboration of the Academia Montis Regalis of Mondovรฌ.
The concerts are held in three venues in the historic center of Piacenza: the Auditorium of Fondazione Piacenza e Vigevano, the Ex Church of San Cristoforo, and Hall 7 (Throne Antechamber) of Palazzo Farnese.
Piacenza is easily accessible by train (Piacenza station, on the Milan-Bologna line) and by car via the A1 and A21 motorways. The historic center, where the concerts take place, is a short walk from the station.
Concerts start at 9 PM. The festival traditionally offers free admission; it is advisable to check access procedures and any reservation requirements with the Municipality of Piacenza or the Rinascimusica Association before each evening.
