The great cycling weekend between the sea, villages, and hills of Valconca
The Riccione Cycling Fest is the great cycling festival that animates Riccione every spring, in the Province of Rimini, Emilia-Romagna. For an entire weekend, the famous seaside resort on the Romagna Riviera transforms into a meeting point for cyclists, enthusiasts, and families, with a program that combines competition, cycle tourism, entertainment, and gastronomy. The focal point of the event is the Granfondo City of Riccione, one of the most beloved classics on the Romagna calendar, alongside gravel routes, group rides, races for young people, and widespread festivities throughout the city.
The main Granfondo is a road race that starts from Riccione's seafront and climbs into the hinterland, exploring the most picturesque landscapes of Valconca. The route passes through medieval villages of rare beauty such as Montefiore Conca, with its imposing fortress, Mondaino, famous for its characteristic pan-shaped square, and Saludecio, with its colorful traditional murals. The route also extends into the Marche region and the Republic of San Marino, offering challenging climbs, scenic curves, and views of the hills that make this granfondo as much a scenic experience as a sporting one.
The Cycling Fest is not just for competitive racers. Alongside the granfondo, there are the routes of the Perla Verde Gravel, dedicated to those who love riding on dirt roads, through oak forests, vineyards, and valleys. For the little ones, there is the mountain bike race at the Parco degli Olivetani and the free "Family on Bike" ride, while the exhibition village in Piazzale Ceccarini hosts stands, group cycling sessions, and entertainment with music and DJ sets. To conclude the race Sunday, the street food party turns the finish line into a true popular festival.
Between sport, entertainment, and conviviality, the Riccione Cycling Fest is now a regular event that combines cycling passion with the discovery of the territory. It is the ideal opportunity to experience Riccione in a different way, outside the summer season, letting yourself be won over by Romagna's hospitality and the beauty of the hinterland villages.
The 2026 edition of the Riccione Cycling Fest animated the city from May 1st to 3rd, bringing together competitive racers, amateur cyclists, and families. The Granfondo City of Riccione, in its 23rd edition, confirmed itself as the benchmark classic of the Romagna hinterland, with a 105.7-kilometer route and 1,800 meters of elevation gain that touched the villages of Valconca. The weekend also featured the Perla Verde gravel routes, races for the younger generation, group rides, and festive moments with music and street food in Piazzale Ceccarini.
The Granfondo route passed through Romagna, Marche, and San Marino, touching villages like Montegiardino, Mondaino, and Saludecio, with refreshment stops in Tavoleto, Mondaino, and Montefiore Conca, and a timed section on the San Giorgio–Mondaino climb (2.7 km, +265 m, average gradient 5.3%).
Riccione is easily reachable by train (Riccione station on the Adriatic line) and by car via the A14 motorway, Riccione exit. The nearest airport is "Federico Fellini" in Rimini.
Registration for the Granfondo and gravel routes is online on the ENDU platform. The complete regulations and technical details are available on the official website granfondoriccione.com.
The exhibition village and the registration office are located in Piazzale Ceccarini, while the Granfondo start is set at Piazzale Roma and the finish line on viale Caprera.
