The race that crosses the vineyards and the Castle of San Clemente, City of Wine
The San Clemente Wine City Half Marathon is one of the most characteristic running events in the Rimini hinterland. It takes place in San Clemente, a small municipality in the Province of Rimini in Emilia-Romagna, honored with the title of City of Wine for its winemaking tradition. The course winds through the vineyards and olive groves that dot these hills, offering participants one of the most picturesque scenarios on the Romagna running calendar.
What makes this race special is its connection to wine: it's no coincidence that the race pack given to each entrant includes a bottle of local wine, along with the bib, photo service, and final refreshment. It's a race designed for both athletes and those who want to enjoy a morning in the open air, with the option to choose between the competitive race and lighter formats for families and children.
San Clemente preserves a small historic center gathered around its castle, a testament to the medieval past of this corner of Romagna, just a few kilometers from the Adriatic coast. The surrounding hills, cultivated with vines and olives, produce prized wines of the Colli di Rimini, from Sangiovese to local white wines. Running among these rows means traversing a landscape that tells the story of the region's agricultural and gastronomic identity.
The event is organized by A.S.D. Golden Club Rimini International with the patronage of the Municipality of San Clemente. The meeting point is at the Ernesto Coletta Sports Center, in Via Cerro Sant'Andrea in Casale, from where all races start. The day combines the competitive aspect with a convivial spirit, true to the tradition of Romagna running events that have always united athletic effort, landscape, and good food.
