La Raffaello Gravel: cycling through the beauty of Montefeltro

La Raffaello Gravel is a cycling event that takes place in Urbino, in the heart of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, in the Marche region. Created to promote the rural territory surrounding the ducal city, the event invites gravel, mountain bike, and e-bike enthusiasts to discover the white roads of Montefeltro, ideally retracing the paths frequented by Raffaello Sanzio, the painter from Urbino to whom the event is dedicated.

Start at the foot of the Ducal Palace

The meeting point, start, and finish are set in front of the Teatro Sanzio, on Corso Giuseppe Garibaldi, right under the iconic turrets of the Ducal Palace of Urbino, a UNESCO heritage site. From here, participants set off along routes that alternate dirt roads, trails, and paved sections, immersed in the hilly Marche landscape of fields, badlands, woods, and small villages.

Two routes for every level

The event offers two routes designed for different levels of fitness:

• Short route — suitable for those who want to experience the event without facing excessive elevation gain, but with a good taste of the climbs and views of Montefeltro;
• Long route — reserved for the fittest cyclists, with greater mileage and elevation gain, on the most challenging white roads in the area.

GPX tracks are provided to registered participants, and the routes are supported by refreshment points along the way offering local products, as well as a final refreshment with typical regional specialties.

In the Circuito Gravel Maxxis

La Raffaello Gravel is one of the stages of the Circuito Gravel Maxxis, the national circuit that brings together some of the most picturesque Italian cycling destinations selected for their white roads. The Urbino event represents one of the last stages of the calendar, in full autumn season, when the Marche hills offer ideal colors and temperatures for cycling.

Sport, culture, and gastronomy

More than just a race, La Raffaello Gravel is an opportunity to experience Urbino and its territory in a slow and immersive way. Organized by the association Ciclo Ducale Urbino, the event combines the passion for cycling with the discovery of the cultural and food and wine excellences of the Municipality of Urbino and the entire Montefeltro area, in a day where sport also becomes a narrative of a unique Marche landscape.
