The International Embroidery Exhibition in the village of Rosignano Monferrato
Every spring, the village of Rosignano Monferrato, in the province of Alessandria, becomes the embroidery capital of the Monferrato region with Ricami Divini, an International Embroidery Exhibition that attracts enthusiasts, needleworkers, and curious visitors from across Italy and abroad. Set against the backdrop of the Monferrato vineyards—a UNESCO World Heritage site and a recipient of the Touring Club's Orange Flag—the event blends textile art, culture, traditions, and gastronomy along a route winding through the streets and palaces of the historic center.
The heart of the event is the fine embroidery exhibition, which brings together around twenty exhibitors, including clubs, associations, and renowned individual embroiderers from Piedmont, Italy, and various European countries such as France and Switzerland. The works on display range from cross-stitch to the most refined textile art techniques, offering visitors a truly broad panorama of contemporary creativity applied to needle and thread. Exhibition spaces are distributed between the Saloni Morano, the historic Teatro Ideal, and the rooms of Casa Cassano, right in the center of the village.
The event is more than just a temporary exhibition: in recent years, Rosignano Monferrato has launched the Il Borgo Ricamato (The Embroidered Village) project, a permanent trail of contemporary textile works scattered throughout the historic center, starting with the first "embroidered doors" created by fiber artists. It is a way to uniquely and lastingly enhance the village's stone architecture and picturesque corners, transforming the town itself into an open-air work of art.
Alongside the embroidery, Ricami Divini offers a rich program of side events that celebrate the bond between the knowledge and flavors of Monferrato: extra virgin olive oil tastings, culinary workshops, craft markets, music, and entertainment in the historic center. Extraordinary openings of the infernot—the characteristic cellars carved into the "pietra da cantoni" stone that are part of the UNESCO designation—are often scheduled, as well as the opportunity to discover the sites associated with the Divisionist painter Angelo Morbelli, who had strong ties to the town. It is the perfect occasion to combine a passion for textile art with the discovery of an authentic corner of Piedmont.
The 20th edition of Ricami Divini, the twentieth anniversary of the event, took place in Rosignano Monferrato on May 23 and 24, 2026, around the theme "Knowledge and Flavors". The village transformed into an immersive trail of creativity, tradition, culture, and taste, featuring the international embroidery exhibition, art installations, markets, and workshops. The edition also marked the debut of the permanent project Il Borgo Ricamato, destined to leave a lasting mark on the historic center.
At the Teatro Ideal, the installation "5.7 km of cries in the silence", a collective embroidered ribbon dedicated to the memory of the children who are victims of the war in Gaza.
