The creative festival for human rights in Termini Imerese
RESISTERE – Art and Human Rights is the new festival conceived by the Amnesty International Group of Termini Imerese (Group Italy 266), born from the urgent need to bring fundamental contemporary social issues back to the center of public debate. The event takes place in the municipality of Termini Imerese, in the province of Palermo, Northern Sicily, and is hosted in the historic gardens of Villa Niccolò Palmeri, one of the town's most evocative sites, built in the mid-19th century upon ancient 16th-century walls.
The festival is built on the powerful synergy between the universal languages of music and spoken word. Through concerts, staged readings, and moments of reflection, RESISTERE aims to give a voice to the voiceless and reaffirm the importance of human rights protection in every context. The evening features artists who have always been sensitive to social issues, in a continuous dialogue between live performance and activism.
The initiative revolves around four keywords, the true pillars of the project:
RESISTERE was created with a deeply inclusive spirit: admission is completely free, because culture and rights must be accessible to everyone. The event is designed as a community moment, where the beauty of art becomes a tool for awareness and change. The choice of Villa Niccolò Palmeri, a green and historic space in the heart of Termini Imerese, underscores the bond between the festival and the local area.
With this first edition, the Amnesty International Group of Termini Imerese enriches the cultural landscape of the Palermo province, bringing to Sicily a format that combines quality entertainment with reflection on the great issues of our time. An event to follow for those who believe that art can still be an act of resistance and hope.
The first edition of RESISTERE – Art and Human Rights brought the gardens of Villa Niccolò Palmeri to life on June 21, 2026. The evening alternated between live music and staged readings, featuring musicians Serena Ganci and Cico Messina, special guest Giulia Mei, and actors Ester Pantano and Corrado Fortuna. Opened and closed by speeches from the volunteers of the Amnesty International Group of Termini Imerese, the event reaffirmed the importance of protecting human rights through the universal languages of art. Admission was free.
