About Regions of Europe

For an entire weekend, the historic centre of Formigine, in the province of Modena, transforms into a large open-air market. "Regions of Europe – International Market" is the travelling event by FIVA Confcommercio that travels through Italian squares every year, bringing with it over fifty stands of high-quality crafts and international street food. Delegations from half of Europe and the world parade along Via San Francesco d'Assisi and Via Trento e Trieste: a journey through flavours, scents, and traditions, with free admission and continuous opening hours until late evening.

A gastronomic journey in the heart of Formigine

"Regions of Europe – International Market" is one of the most popular travelling trade fairs in Italy: a caravan of stalls and on-the-road kitchens that travels through the main squares of the peninsula every year, attracting over a million visitors in total. When it stops in Formigine, in the province of Modena, the historic centre of the Emilian municipality dresses up for a party and becomes a large open-air European village for an entire weekend.

Where it takes place

The market route winds along Via San Francesco d'Assisi and Via Trento e Trieste, in the heart of the historic centre, at the foot of the famous Castello di Formigine. About fifty selected stands, including about twenty foreign exhibitors, offer a complete sensory experience: on one side, high-quality crafts, and on the other, international street food and Made in Italy excellences.

Arriving delegations

The beauty of this event lies in the variety of origins. Among the stalls, you will find European delegations from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Spain, Scotland, and Ukraine, alongside non-European exhibitors from Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and Thailand, as well as many Italian regions. You can sample Northern European cheeses and cured meats, Iberian and South American specialities, and sweets and artisanal products from all latitudes.

Not just food

  • Typical dishes prepared on the spot and international street food tastings
  • European food products and crafts to take home
  • Festive atmosphere along the streets of the centre, from morning until evening

Due to its international dimension and strong gastronomic appeal, "Regions of Europe" is a beloved event for families in Emilia-Romagna and an excellent opportunity to discover, within a few hundred metres, the flavours and crafts of half of Europe in the charming village of Formigine.
