The great Alta Langa honey festival in Montezemolo
The Regional Honey and Beekeeping Equipment Fair in Montezemolo, in the province of Cuneo, is one of the historic events dedicated to beekeeping in Piedmont. For two days, this small Alta Langa village, perched at over 700 meters above sea level on the border between the Langhe and Liguria, becomes the heart of local honey production: acacia, chestnut, wildflower, and raspberry, alongside propolis, royal jelly, and natural honey-based cosmetics.
The fair began in 1979 as a unique exhibition dedicated to beekeeping, and in 1996, it received recognition from the Piedmont Region as a regional honey fair, the first of its kind for Piedmontese beekeeping. After a long hiatus, the event returned in 2025 with a symbolic edition dubbed "0+34," a fresh start built on the solid foundations of previous years. Montezemolo is a member of the National Association of Honey Cities, a network of Italian municipalities linked to this excellence.
The fair combines a popular atmosphere with technical and scientific expertise. The producers' market winds through the village streets, showcasing honey and hive products, as well as beekeeping equipment and typical Alta Langa goods. Highlights include:
Visiting the Montezemolo Honey Fair is also an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Piedmont: the pastures and woods of the Alta Langa, the Cordero castle, the church of San Benedetto, and panoramic views stretching as far as the Maritime Alps. It is the perfect occasion to combine a passion for genuine products with the discovery of a village that has made honey a symbol of its identity.
The Regional Honey and Beekeeping Equipment Fair in Montezemolo (CN) returns in 2026 on its traditional dates of July 4th and 5th, spanning two days. The event confirms its regional status and aims to consolidate its position as a benchmark for Piedmontese beekeeping.
With a producers' market, guided tastings of local honeys (acacia, chestnut, wildflower, raspberry), hive products, and an exhibition of beekeeping equipment, this edition promises to be even richer. The detailed program, including times, guests, and side events, will be published by the Municipality of Montezemolo in the weeks leading up to the event.
The fair takes place in the center of Montezemolo (CN), a village in the Alta Langa area in the province of Cuneo. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Saturday, July 4th, and Sunday, July 5th.
