One hundred days of great music at the Alighieri Theatre
Ravenna Musica is the classical music festival that enlivens the Alighieri Theatre in Ravenna, in the heart of the city of mosaics, in Emilia-Romagna, every winter and spring. The season is organized by the Angelo Mariani Musical Association, named after the famous conductor from Ravenna, and has been one of the most anticipated events in the city's cultural calendar for decades. Structured into nine subscription concerts, the festival has been aptly described as "one hundred days of great music" because it unfolds from the heart of winter to late spring.
The Ravenna Musica program is distinguished by the quality and prestige of its performers. Great world-famous pianists, cellists, and violinists, chamber orchestras, and Italian and foreign symphony ensembles perform on the stage of the Alighieri Theatre. The festival skillfully alternates established names in international concerts with emerging young talents, offering a rich and varied panorama of the classical and romantic repertoire, from Bach and Mozart to Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms, Dvoลรกk, and Shostakovich.
The season is made possible through the collaboration of numerous local institutions: the Municipality of Ravenna, the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Ministry of Culture, the Cassa di Risparmio di Ravenna Foundation, and the Monte di Bologna e Ravenna Foundation. These are joined by a partnership with the Imola International Academy Foundation, which brings some of the most promising young pianists to Ravenna.
The beating heart of the festival is the Alighieri Theatre, an elegant Italian-style theatre inaugurated in 1852 and one of the most important in Emilia-Romagna. Its acoustics and the intimate atmosphere of the hall make it the ideal setting for a chamber and symphonic music season. Attending a Ravenna Musica concert means experiencing a top-level musical performance in a historically fascinating context, just a short walk from the famous Byzantine mosaics, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Ravenna Musica 2026 season takes place at the Alighieri Theatre from February 3 to May 9, 2026, with nine subscription concerts featuring some of the greatest performers in international concerts. Among the most anticipated events are the recital by pianist Arcadi Volodos dedicated to Chopin and Schubert, Bach's Goldberg Variations performed by Angela Hewitt, and the closing concert with the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic and cellist Misha Maisky. The festival, organized by the Angelo Mariani Musical Association with the support of the Municipality of Ravenna and the Emilia-Romagna Region, confirms its commitment to a high-level season.
