Three months of theater, open-air cinema, and workshops for children and teens on the Amalfi Coast
Ravello is world-renowned for its clifftop gardens, Villa Rufolo, and the grand musical season that draws an international audience every year. However, for some time now, this small town in the Province of Salerno, Campania, has dedicated an entire summer program to those who are usually silent spectators: children and teenagers. Thus, "Ravello, the Most Beautiful Season" was born—a festival promoted by the Municipality of Ravello that, from June 9th to September 8th, 2026, engages families, residents, and tourists with theater, open-air cinema, music, workshops, and games.
The beating heart of the events is the Giardini del Monsignore, a cozy, shaded green space that transforms into an open-air theater at sunset. However, the festival is intentionally widespread: events spill into Piazza Duomo, climb up to the hamlets of Sambuco and Torello, and occupy the streets of the historic center. This is a deliberate choice by the municipal administration to bring entertainment to the peripheral villages, not just the town's main square.
The backbone of the program is "Cinema under the stars", a series curated by the Are Ere Ire association: ten evening screenings at the Giardini del Monsignore, starting at 8:30 PM. In 2026, screenings began on Tuesday, June 9th, and continued on June 16th, 23rd, and 30th; July 21st; August 11th, 18th, and 25th; and finally September 1st and 8th, when the festival concludes. Watching a film outdoors, with the evening breeze rising from the gulf, is perhaps the most iconic image of this Ravello summer.
Alongside the cinema, the program hosts companies specializing in children's theater. Performers have included the Compagnia Citrea, the Ipiemme association, the Ablativo collective, and Circolarte, with shows ranging from classic fairy tales to sensory theater, contemporary circus, and clowning. There is no shortage of creative workshops, open-air painting sessions in the square, evening readings, and village festivals: short events, often held in the late afternoon, designed for the attention span of younger children and to allow families to dine calmly after the show.
One of the most beloved events is the Children's Market in Piazza Duomo, where the children themselves act as vendors, selling toys, books, and items they no longer use. All proceeds are donated to Doctors Without Borders: a simple and concrete way to introduce the theme of solidarity into a day of play.
The festival is entirely promoted and coordinated by the Municipality of Ravello, which collaborates with local cultural associations to realize individual events. The calendar and times, as noted by the administration, are subject to change: updates are communicated through the Municipality's official social media channels. It is worth checking the evening before, especially for outdoor shows that depend on weather conditions.
The Municipality of Ravello opened the festival on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 8:30 PM at the Giardini del Monsignore, with the first screening of "Cinema under the stars." From there, the calendar unfolded throughout the summer until September 8, alternating theatrical performances, events in the hamlets, creative workshops, and street games. Compared to previous editions, the program has expanded: more dates, more venues, and a stronger presence in the hamlets, with the Summer Festival in Sambuco and the Disco Color Party in Torello.
Afternoon events begin between 5:30 PM and 7:00 PM, and evening ones at 8:30 PM. The audience consists of local families, joined by tourists staying on the Amalfi Coast who are looking for evening activities with their children. The calendar and times, the Municipality warns, are subject to change, which will be communicated through official social media pages.

Ravello can be reached by car via the SS163 Amalfitana road, taking the turnoff at Castiglione di Ravello; parking in the center is limited and paid, so it is better to use the garages at the entrance to the town. By bus, use SITA Sud lines from Amalfi (about 25 minutes) with connections from Salerno and Sorrento. By train, reach Salerno station, then take a bus or seasonal ferry to Amalfi.
Giardini del Monsignore (main venue, shows and open-air cinema), Piazza Duomo, the hamlets of Sambuco and Torello, and streets of the historic center.
Evening shows generally start at 8:30 PM, while afternoon ones are between 5:30 PM and 7:00 PM. Bring a light sweater: even in August, the evening in Ravello, at 350 meters above sea level, can get cool. For the little ones, a cushion or a blanket for outdoor seating is useful.
