Trail running in the Stubai Alps within the Ratschings-Giovo area
The Ratschings Mountain Trails is a trail running and mountain racing event that brings the municipality of Racines/Ratschings, in the province of Bolzano, South Tyrol, to life every June. The race takes place in the Ratschings-Giovo hiking and ski area, at the foot of the Stubai Alps, attracting hundreds of enthusiasts from South Tyrol, the rest of Italy, and the German-speaking world (Austria and Germany), confirming the event's increasingly international appeal.
The event offers two main tracks designed for different skill levels and ambitions:
The event's logistics base is the valley station of the Ratschings-Giovo cable car, in the village of Colle di Innerratschings, at an altitude of approximately 1,300 meters. From here, the trails wind along paths, mountain pastures, and high-altitude landscapes, with the finish line recently located near the Rinneralm mountain hut. The scenery of the Racines Valley and the Stubai Alps provides the perfect backdrop for a day of outdoor sports, suitable for families thanks to the Mini Trails and the festive atmosphere that accompanies the event.
The event is organized by ASV Ratschings, the local sports association, with the support of the Racines Tourism Office. Since its inception in 2021, the event has consolidated its format, now exceeding 300 entries per edition and becoming a staple of the South Tyrolean summer trail running calendar.
The 2026 edition of the Ratschings Mountain Trails was held on Sunday, June 21, 2026, with a morning start from the valley station of the Ratschings-Giovo cable car in Innerratschings. The sixth edition surpassed 300 entries, with athletes coming from South Tyrol and the German-speaking Alpine region.
The proven format was confirmed: Ratschings Sky Trail (27 km, 1,610 m elevation gain) and Ratschings Mountain Trail (17.7 km, 950 m elevation gain), with the option to run the Mountain Trail as a relay (legs of 8 km and 9.7 km) and the Mini Trails dedicated to children and teenagers.
