LGBTQIA+ pride in the Iblean territory, held in Marina di Ragusa
Ragusa Pride is the event that fills the seafront of Marina di Ragusa—the seaside district of the Municipality of Ragusa that becomes the beating heart of Iblean life in summer—with colors and advocacy every year. Promoted by a committee of volunteers, activists, and citizens who believe in "a Sicily that is open, inclusive, and free from prejudice," the Pride has grown edition after edition to become one of the most anticipated events in the LGBTQIA+ calendar of south-eastern Sicily, in the province of Ragusa.
The heart of the event is the parade that travels along the Lungomare Andrea Doria in Marina di Ragusa, winding through the squares of the seaside town with floats, rainbow flags, music, and thousands of participants. Along the route, the reading of the political manifesto, speeches from the stage, and DJ sets transform the evening into a massive party that lasts until late at night. The Iblean Pride thus combines a joyful dimension with a militant one, giving a voice to LGBTQIA+ people in a territory that the committee defines as a "frontier land" and "the edge of the South."
In recent years, Ragusa Pride has distinguished itself for its strong focus on accessibility: LIS (Italian Sign Language) interpretation during speeches, decompression areas, earplugs, an accessible stage, and a dedicated care service for individuals. A choice that makes the Iblean parade an example of a Pride attentive to everyone, in collaboration with organizations like Disability Pride Italia.
The parade is not an isolated event but the culmination of a broader program of side initiatives spread across June and July: meetings, discussions, and cultural events that animate Ragusa and Marina di Ragusa in the weeks leading up to the main parade. For those visiting south-eastern Sicily in summer, Ragusa Pride is an opportunity to experience the Iblean coast in a festive, supportive, and deeply communal atmosphere.
The fifth edition of Ragusa Pride is confirmed for Saturday, July 11, 2026, in Marina di Ragusa. The slogan chosen by the organizing committee is "Resisto anche Queer!": three words that, according to the organizers, condense the political meaning of the event—namely, being present, resisting, and transforming the margins into a collective space for the LGBTQIA+ community of the Iblean territory, a "frontier land" in the South of Sicily.
The parade will represent the concluding moment of a broader journey, with side initiatives and a fundraising campaign planned between June and July.
The detailed program of the day—parade route, times, guests on stage, and DJ sets—will be announced by the committee on official channels (Ragusa Pride website and social media) in the weeks preceding the event.
