About Radici Urbane

Radici Urbane Festival is a multidisciplinary event in Alessandria, Piedmont, blending open-air cinema, live music, DJ sets, literary meetings, and local gastronomy. Promoted by the APS Requiem For a Film, the festival brings the evocative Chiostro di Santa Maria di Castello to life over several days, weaving together diverse artistic languages and celebrating the city's cultural and social identity. With evening screenings, special guests, talks, and tastings, it is designed to rediscover the region's creative roots in a vibrant, urban atmosphere.

A festival weaving the arts in Alessandria

Radici Urbane Festival is a multidisciplinary event held in the heart of Alessandria, in the Piedmont region. Established in 2025 by the APS Requiem For a Film, the festival brings together cinema, visual arts, literature, and food and wine in a single program, aiming to celebrate shared culture and strengthen the bond with the area's artistic and social identity.

The setting: the Chiostro di Santa Maria di Castello

The heart of the event is the Chiostro di Santa Maria di Castello, one of the city's most fascinating historical sites, which transforms into a sprawling stage for several nights. Starlit screenings, concerts, DJ sets, readings, and debates take place among the cloister's arches, inviting the public to experience the historic center of Alessandria in an unusual and vibrant way.

Cinema, music, and meetings

The program ranges from open-air cinema, featuring major titles and a short film competition, to live music and DJ sets that keep the evenings going until late at night. Significant space is dedicated to meetings with writers, authors, and voices from the Italian cultural scene, as well as discussions on the cultural development of the territory.

  • Cinema: evening screenings of cult films and a short film competition.
  • Music: concerts, musical marathons, and late-night DJ sets.
  • Literature: meetings with authors, literary awards, and readings.
  • Talks and debates: discussions on culture and local identity.

Local flavors

Alongside the cultural offerings, Radici Urbane features an area dedicated to food and wine: stands with local products, street food, and regional wines accompany the evenings, in line with the festival's mission to highlight local roots. A charity dinner supporting the cloister completes the preview events.
