Three months of music, cinema, and performances under the stars in Tortona
Summer of Events is the major summer festival promoted by the Municipality of Tortona, a city in the province of Alessandria in south-east Piedmont. For nearly three months, from June to September, the calendar treats residents and visitors to a near-daily succession of concerts, shows, film screenings, and dance nights, transforming squares, courtyards, and parks into open-air stages.
The beating heart of the festival is the Cortile dell'Annunziata, an intimate and atmospheric setting that hosts concerts, presentations, and family shows. Larger events move to Piazza Duomo, while Piazza Malaspina transforms into an open-air cinema. There are also evenings at Parco La Lucciola, the Area Matteotti, and in outlying districts like Vho, reflecting a festival that aims to reach every corner of the municipal area.
Summer of Events is a hub that brings together various themed series:
The festival's philosophy is one of accessible culture: most events are free to attend until capacity is reached, while some charity concerts are by voluntary donation. Promoted with the support of the Piedmont Region, the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria, and Alexala, Summer of Events is now a staple of the Tortona summer, successfully blending popular entertainment, cultural offerings, and the promotion of the city's historic center.
The 2026 edition of Summer of Events runs from June 11 to September 11 with dozens of events spread across Tortona's landmark locations. The program brings together the Tribute Music Festival (Piazza Duomo), Cinema Nights (Piazza Malaspina), Baracche d'Estate (puppet theater), and dance nights at Parco La Lucciola and Area Matteotti. These are joined by blues and charity concerts at the Cortile dell'Annunziata, often supporting local associations. The festival is promoted by the Municipality of Tortona with the support of the Piedmont Region, the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria, and Alexala.
From June 30 to July 5, six evenings of free open-air screenings (approx. 9:30 PM).
Tortona is easily accessible by car via the A7 motorway (Milan-Genoa) and the A21 (Turin-Piacenza), taking the Tortona exit. The Tortona railway station is well-connected to Alessandria, Milan, Genoa, and Voghera.
Events mainly take place at the Cortile dell'Annunziata, Piazza Duomo, Piazza Malaspina, Parco La Lucciola, and Area Matteotti, all located in the center of Tortona.
Most events are free of charge until capacity is reached; some charity concerts are by voluntary donation. For ticketed shows, tickets are on sale at the Teatro Civico.
