About Mont-Emilius Cattle Show

As spring arrives, the Mont-Emilius Communal Union invites you to Quart, at the gates of Aosta, for one of the traditional livestock shows coordinated by AREV. A day dedicated to the prized Aosta Valley cattle breed, with animal exhibitions, parades, technical evaluations, and awards, in an atmosphere of rural celebration and conviviality at the foot of the mountains.

Spring Shows of the Aosta Valley Breed

Every spring, from March to May, the municipalities of the Aosta Valley host the territorial livestock shows organized by AREV (Regional Association of Aosta Valley Breeders). These events celebrate the region's historic cattle breeds — the Pezzata Rossa, Pezzata Nera, and Castana Valdostana — symbols of the centuries-old balance between humans and the mountains.

The Quart Event

The show for the Mont-Emilius Communal Union is held in Quart, a municipality in the Province of Aosta located along the Dora Baltea river, just east of the regional capital, and dominated by its medieval castle. Breeders from the area prepare and present their finest animals, which are exhibited and evaluated by technicians from ANABORAVA (National Association of Breeders of Aosta Valley Cattle Breeds).

Tradition, Taste, and Conviviality

In addition to the livestock aspect, the show is a popular celebration: tastings of alpine Fontina cheese and local products, local markets, music, and conviviality. For visitors, it's an opportunity to get closer to the culture of Aosta Valley breeding, the true identity of the Aosta Valley and the Mont-Emilius area.
