Three days of tradition, music, and rustic cuisine in the historic hamlet of Manziana

Quadroni in Festa is the most anticipated summer event in the small hamlet of Quadroni, located in the municipality of Manziana, in the Province of Rome, Lazio. For three consecutive evenings, the streets and public spaces of the village transform into one large open-air dining hall, enlivened by live music and that sense of neighborly spirit that has never been lost in the districts around Lake Bracciano.
The event is organized by the Contrada del Lupo, an association of local residents that has been managing the festival for years with the patronage of the Manziana municipal administration. This is not a manufactured tourist event; it is a celebration the community hosts for itself, which is exactly why it is so welcoming to visitors.
The heart of the festival is the kitchen, featuring strictly local traditions prepared by neighborhood volunteers. Food stalls generally open at 7:30 PM and offer the dishes that have made the event famous throughout the region:
Prices remain intentionally affordable, and service is provided at shared tables: those arriving alone almost always end up sitting next to a local.
From 9:00 PM, the central area of the hamlet turns into a dance floor. The musical program alternates between ballroom orchestras, pop, rock, and blues bands, and groups performing traditional Lazio folk music, with the essential space dedicated to live stornelli singing. Past editions have featured ensembles such as the Oriente Express orchestra, the band SoundVille, and the folk group Mandria.
Alongside the dancing, there is entertainment and games for children, making the evening suitable for families, as well as various side initiatives proposed from year to year: trekking excursions to discover the area, vintage Vespa rallies, and photographic exhibitions dedicated to the faces and landscapes of the hamlet.
The festival is held along Via Quadroni and in the neighborhood spaces, just a few minutes from the center of Manziana. The town is famous for the Macchia Grande, the large collectively-owned turkey oak forest that surrounds the area, and for its proximity to Lake Bracciano: those arriving in the afternoon can easily combine a walk in the woods or a swim in the lake with the evening festivities.
The event traditionally falls between the end of June and the first weekends of July. In 2025, the event took place from July 4th to 6th; in 2023, from June 30th to July 2nd. The Municipality of Manziana has also included Quadroni in Festa in the official calendar of events for July 2026, confirming the continuity of the event.
In a region like Lazio, which offers dozens of food festivals in the summer, Quadroni in Festa maintains a cozy and genuine atmosphere that is now hard to find. There are no massive stages or entrance fees: just a neighborhood that opens its streets, cooks for three nights, and dances until late. For those visiting the Lake Bracciano area, it is the most direct way to connect with the real life of these villages.
The event appears among the official July 2026 appointments announced by the municipal administration of Manziana, alongside the Arrosticino Festival and the Lombrichi Festival. Precise dates and the evening program were not yet available at the time of verification: it is recommended to check the municipal event calendar or the Contrada del Lupo Quadroni Facebook page for updates.
The formula, consolidated over the years, includes the opening of food stalls from 7:30 PM and live music from 9:00 PM, with entertainment for children and the neighborhood's historic dishes: snails, Roman-style tripe, and acquacotta.
By car: From Rome, take the SS1 Aurelia or the A12 motorway to Cerveteri, then continue towards Bracciano and Manziana (about 50 km from the Grande Raccordo Anulare). The hamlet of Quadroni is signposted at the entrance to the town.
By train: Take the FL3 line (Rome Ostiense – Viterbo) and get off at the Manziana-Canale Monterano station; from there, the hamlet is just a few minutes away by car or taxi.
Admission to the festival is free. You only pay for what you consume at the food stalls, with typical village festival prices. Stalls generally open at 7:30 PM, and live music starts around 9:00 PM.
It is advisable to arrive early to find a seat at the tables. The event takes place outdoors, so a light sweater for the evening is recommended. Parking is available in free spaces along the access roads to the hamlet. For updated dates, it is recommended to check the website of the Municipality of Manziana or the Contrada del Lupo Quadroni Facebook page.
Accommodations and farmhouses (agriturismi) are available in Manziana, Bracciano, Oriolo Romano, and Canale Monterano, all within a 15 km radius.
