Celebrating the cultural and artistic excellence of historic Lunigiana
The Premio Centurione has become a highly anticipated event in the cultural calendar of Aulla, a town in the Province of Massa-Carrara located in the heart of historic Lunigiana, Tuscany. The event was established to provide visibility and recognition to the people, associations, professionals, and projects that originate and operate within Lunigiana, contributing to the cultural and social growth of the region across diverse fields.
Conceived by the Pro Loco Città di Aulla, led by Marco Profili, alongside literary critic Marina Pratici, president of the jury, the award was initially dedicated to local writers. Over subsequent editions, it has progressively expanded to embrace the arts and crafts of Lunigiana: photographers, painters, musicians, theater and performing artists, and journalists. Each year, the ceremony presents dozens of awards across numerous categories, ranging from territorial heritage and social services to comics, dance, poetry, journalism, Dante studies, and children's literature.
The ceremony takes place in the Sala delle Muse of Palazzo Centurione in the center of Aulla, a venue that reaches capacity every year and provides an elegant, intimate backdrop for the awards. The honors are often accompanied by musical interludes and performances, and in some editions, have involved local schools in collaboration with the Fondazione Nazionale Carlo Collodi.
The 2026 edition marked a turning point with the launch of the Centurione Literary Prize, featuring sections for poetry and fiction, which saw broad participation from authors across Italy. This growth confirms the award's mission to make Aulla and Lunigiana a reference point for culture and writers.
The Premio Centurione is an opportunity to connect with a region rich in history and talent, often little-known to the general public, and to share a moment of cultural celebration with the local community.
The 6th edition of the Premio Centurione was held on June 11, 2026, in the Sala delle Muse of Palazzo Centurione, Aulla, organized by the Pro Loco Città di Aulla with president Marco Profili and jury president Marina Pratici.
The 2026 edition saw a wealth of recognition, with over thirty awards presented across numerous categories, and introduced the new Centurione Literary Prize for poetry and fiction, which attracted a wide range of authors from all over Italy.
The ceremony took place in the Sala delle Muse of Palazzo Centurione with over thirty awards divided into numerous categories (territorial guardians, social services, youth future, agricultural excellence, comics, music, visual arts, Lunigiana writers, fashion photography, Dante studies, ecology, dance, poetry, journalism, children's literature, theater, and musical excellence).
