About Pralibro

Pralibro is one of the most well-established book festivals in Piedmont, held every summer in Prali, in the upper Val Germanasca. For nearly a month, the Waldensian Temple of Borgo Ghigo transforms into a bookstore and stage, hosting book presentations with prominent authors, theater, music, cinema, excursions, astronomical observations, and workshops for children. All events are free to attend.

Pralibro: Books head to the mountains

Founded in 2002, Pralibro is one of the most beloved and popular book festivals in Piedmont. It takes place in Prali, a small mountain village in the Waldensian Valleys, in the Province of Turin, at an altitude of over 1,400 meters in the upper Val Germanasca. For nearly a month, the village becomes a meeting point for readers, authors, and publishers, offering an intimate and informal atmosphere rarely found in large city festivals.

A bookstore in the Waldensian Temple

The heart of the festival is the Waldensian Temple in Borgo Ghigo, which for the duration of the event turns into a fully-fledged bookstore managed by the historic Turin bookshops Claudiana and Il Ponte sulla Dora. The festival was born from the collaboration between booksellers Rocco Pinto and Sara Platone and the Waldensian community of Prali, and for over twenty years, it has intertwined the local dimension of the Valleys with an open perspective on the world.

More than just book presentations

Pralibro is much more than a series of presentations: the program alternates meetings with authors with theatrical readings, concerts, film screenings, excursions on the trails of the Waldensian Valleys, astronomical observations, and workshops for children and families. Topics range from the history of Protestantism to mountain stories, from international current affairs to philosophical reflection, always with a focus on the quality of the guests.

A summer appointment in Prali

Attending Pralibro means combining reading with the discovery of an authentic alpine territory: the village of Prali, its trails, its Waldensian history, and its hospitality. It is an ideal opportunity for those looking for a mountain vacation that does not compromise on culture, in one of the most evocative places in Piedmont. All events are free to attend, while children's workshops are free upon reservation.

Pralibro โ€” edition 2026

The 23rd edition of Pralibro takes place from July 25 to August 22, 2026, in the Waldensian Temple of Prali. Nearly a month of meetings with over thirty authors, theatrical readings, concerts, cinema, excursions, astronomical observations, and workshops for children, all with free admission.

The 23rd edition of Pralibro returns to Prali, in the upper Val Germanasca, from July 25 to August 22, 2026. For nearly a month, the Waldensian Temple of Borgo Ghigo hosts over thirty meetings with authors, accompanied by theatrical readings, concerts, screenings, excursions in the Waldensian Valleys, a stargazing evening, and workshops for the little ones. The bookstore, set up for the duration of the festival by the Claudiana and Il Ponte sulla Dora bookshops, is also confirmed.
