About Porto della Vite

Porto della Vite is the new food and wine festival bringing around twenty wineries from across Sicily to the seafront of Brolo, in the province of Messina. For two evenings in mid-June, the waterfront transforms into a grand Sicilian wine lounge, featuring tastings, local food stalls, and free concerts under the stars. The event draws inspiration from the history of Brolo's ancient port—once a bustling hub of trade where wine was a precious commodity—and reimagines it as a contemporary celebration of the island's viticultural excellence.

Porto della Vite: Sicilian wine takes center stage in Brolo

Porto della Vite - Sicilian Wine Expo is a food and wine festival that brings the seafront of Brolo to life. This small coastal town in the province of Messina overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea and provides the perfect backdrop for the event. The festival gathers around twenty wineries from all over Sicily for a weekend dedicated to discovering the island's finest wines, accompanied by tastings, social gatherings, gourmet stalls, and live music. It is an event designed for wine enthusiasts and casual visitors alike, inviting everyone to stroll by the sea with a glass in hand in one of the most picturesque settings on the Messina coast.

A tribute to the history of Brolo's port

Brolo grew around its ancient port, a center of trade that long connected the territory to the rest of Sicily and the Mediterranean. Among the goods that passed through here, wine held a place of honor, contributing significantly to the community's economic and social life. Porto della Vite was born from this historical memory, translating it into a modern-day event: the name evokes the deep bond between local maritime tradition and wine culture, placing Sicilian viticulture and the producers who showcase its quality and variety at the heart of the experience.

Wine, food, and concerts by the sea

The festival's formula blends the exhibition of wineries with the conviviality typical of Sicilian summer feasts. Stalls dedicated to wine tastings and local culinary specialties line the promenade, while the evenings are filled with live musical performances. Guests can alternate between sampling Sicilian labels and enjoying concerts, creating a festive atmosphere that delights both residents and tourists.

  • Around 20 Sicilian wineries offering wine tastings
  • Food and wine stalls featuring local specialties
  • Free evening concerts on the seafront
  • Inaugural ceremony with local authorities

Brolo and the Tyrrhenian Riviera

Part of the vibrant summer calendar of the Municipality of Brolo, which runs from June to October, Porto della Vite is one of the highlights of the early summer season. The town, dominated by its medieval castle and overlooking a long beach, is a popular destination on the Tyrrhenian Riviera in the province of Messina, just a short distance from the Nebrodi Mountains and the Aeolian Islands. The event serves as a perfect opportunity to combine wine tourism, local heritage, and the promotion of Sicily's viticultural excellence.
