About Mont-Rose Walser Cattle Show

Between the end of winter and the arrival of spring, the Unité des communes Mont-Rose and Walser gather in Pont-Saint-Martin for one of the traditional spring livestock shows coordinated by AREV. A day celebrating the prized Aosta Valley cattle breed with exhibitions, parades, and awards, in an atmosphere of alpine rural conviviality.

Spring Shows of the Aosta Valley Breed

Every spring, from March to May, the municipalities of the Aosta Valley host the territorial livestock shows organized by AREV (Regional Association of Aosta Valley Breeders): a calendar of events celebrating the region's historic cattle breeds — the Pezzata Rossa, Pezzata Nera, and Castana Valdostana, symbols of the balance between humans and the mountains.

The Pont-Saint-Martin Event

The show that brings together the Unité des communes Mont-Rose and Walser is held in Pont-Saint-Martin, in the Province of Aosta, at the entrance to the Valley. Breeders from the district prepare and present their best animals, which are evaluated and exhibited among the stalls. Technical evaluation is entrusted to ANABORAVA (National Association of Breeders of Aosta Valley Cattle Breeds).

A Celebration of Tradition and Territory

In addition to the zootechnical aspect, the show is a moment of popular celebration: tastings of alpine Fontina cheese and typical products, markets, conviviality, and the alpine landscape as a backdrop. It is the ideal opportunity to discover the Aosta Valley breeding culture up close, the true identity of the Lower Aosta Valley.
