Four days of celebration and community in the border village of Platischis
Some festivals are more than just festivals. Platischis in Festa is one of them. It takes place every August in Platischis, a tiny hamlet in the Municipality of Taipana, in the province of Udine: a village of just over fifty inhabitants nestled in the Valli del Torre, a stone's throw from the border with Slovenia. Up here, where the mountain has been emptying out over the years, four days of celebration become an act of resistance and love for one's land.
The event, organised by the Pro Loco Platischis APS, has grown significantly in its over thirty years of history. Today, it is not just an entertainment event, but a real tool for revitalising the area, designed to keep the community alive and make the village attractive again to younger generations. Each edition focuses on the memory of the place, its traditions, and its roots straddling Friulian and Slovenian culture.
The four days offer a dense and varied programme, capable of combining conviviality, culture, and fun:
The border location is also reflected on stage: alongside Friulian bands, there are groups playing Slovenian folk music, a testament to a border culture where the two languages have coexisted for centuries. Visiting Platischis during the festival means discovering an authentic and little-known corner of Friuli Venezia Giulia, immersed in the nature of the Valli del Torre.
In 2026, the community of Platischis is once again preparing for four days of celebration in the heart of summer, typically in the second half of August as is tradition. The programme will follow the established format, with live music every evening, a food stand, charity raffle, tournaments, exhibitions, and activities for children.
The detailed programme for the 2026 edition will be published by Pro Loco Platischis in the weeks before the event. Based on recent editions, the four evenings will include:
How to get there: Platischis can be reached by car from Taipana along mountain roads; from the Udine Nord (A23) motorway exit, it's about an hour's drive towards the Valli del Torre.
Admission: free event; food stands are paid.
Accommodation: scattered accommodation in Taipana and the villages of the Valli del Torre.
