Two fragrant days dedicated to the lavender of the Riviera dei Fiori
Every year, at the threshold of summer, the village of Pietra Ligure (province of Savona) transforms its squares into the kingdom of lavender with the Petrae festival. The event was born from the collaboration between the Municipality and the Association of Lavender Producers of the Riviera dei Fiori, with the support of local entities "Facciamo Centro", restaurateurs from Pietra Ligure and Val Maremola, and the association "Una mano nel cerchio".
The heart of the festival is the flower market, complemented by educational workshops on distillation and bouquet making, thematic meetings, shows, and entertainment. Among the most anticipated events are the lavender parade with the election of Miss Petrae and the competition for the best lavender cocktail. One of the editions also saw the presentation of the floral hybrid "Lavanda Petrae", symbolically dedicated to the city.
The food and wine tours offered by restaurateurs from the center and Val Maremola revolve around lavender, featuring the flower in dishes, desserts, and drinks. It's an opportunity to discover how this cultivation, typical of the western Ligurian hinterland, has become part of the territory's identity.
Petrae fits perfectly into a day on the Riviera: the medieval village of Pietra Ligure, with its castle and narrow streets, is just a short walk from the beaches and the promenade, while behind it lie the hills cultivated with lavender in the Province of Savona.
For 2026, the Lavender Festival Petrae returns to the historic center of Pietra Ligure on June 24 and 25. The formula that has made the event popular is confirmed: flower market, lavender parade with the election of Miss Petrae, distillation and bouquet making workshops, and food and wine tours by restaurateurs from the center and Val Maremola.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by the Municipality of Pietra Ligure closer to the event. The usual structure includes:
By train: Pietra Ligure station on the Genoa-Ventimiglia line, a few minutes' walk from the center. By car: Borghetto Santo Spirito or Finale Ligure highway exit (A10), then follow the Via Aurelia.
Free admission to the event. Food stands and workshops are priced as indicated by the organizers.
