Loano and the Doria princes
Il Ritorno dei Doria is the grand historical reenactment of Loano, on the Riviera Ligure di Ponente, in the province of Savona. The event celebrates the proclamation, in 1575, of the free county of Loano under Zenobia Del Carretto and Gianandrea Doria, nephew of the famous admiral Andrea Doria.
Three days in the Renaissance
The historic center and the seafront come alive with historical parades, ancient markets, costumed companies, and shows. Among the most anticipated moments are the landing of the Doria princes at the Marina with arquebus salvos, the parade along the coast, and the investiture ceremony in Piazza Italia, in front of the Palazzo Doria, with fire shows.

The festival offers a spectacular Renaissance dinner in Piazza Italia, with dishes inspired by the 16th century, as well as falconry, juggling, flag-wavers, Renaissance music, and an artisanal market. A journey back in time that tells the story of Loano and its connection with one of the most important families of the Republic of Genoa.
Il Ritorno dei Doria — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of Il Ritorno dei Doria enlivens Loano from June 12 to 14, between the historic center, the Marina, and the seafront. The event commemorates the proclamation of the free county in 1575 under Zenobia Del Carretto and Gianandrea Doria.
Three days of parades, shows, and flavors of the past, with the artisanal market open from 10 AM to 10 PM throughout the festival.

Friday, June 12
- From 8:00 PM — Renaissance dinner in Piazza Italia, with dishes inspired by the 16th century (€50 per person)
Saturday, June 13
- From late afternoon — animations and ancient markets in the center
- 9:00 PM — landing of the Doria Princes at the Marina with arquebus salvos and historical parade along the seafront
- Around 10:00 PM — investiture ceremony in Piazza Italia with fire shows
Sunday, June 14
- 5:00 PM — cultural meeting at Orto Maccagli with book presentations on the history of the Doria family
For all three days: falconry, juggling, flag-wavers, Ligurian historical groups, Renaissance music, and artisanal market (10 AM-10 PM).
