The 'erbiòn' pea and new wine are the stars of the Miradolo Terme festival
The Pea and New Wine Festival is the event that celebrates the 'erbiòn' in Miradolo Terme, province of Pavia: this is the local dialect name for the ancient variety of early pea, the symbolic agricultural product of the area. This legume and new wine are the focus of an event that intertwines gastronomy, tradition, and community celebration in the Bassa pavese region, bordering the Lodi area.
The festival's star dish is risotto with peas and new wine, featured in a highly anticipated show cooking event: TV personality Chef Stefano Marinucci prepares it live for the public to taste. This moment combines entertainment with the promotion of a typical local product, the gastronomic heart of the entire event.
The main day, Sunday, opens with the ribbon-cutting ceremony and continues with the historical parade of flag-throwers from the 'Onda Sforzesca' of Vigevano, traditional games, demonstrations, and stalls from the zero-km market. Saturday evening is dedicated to a convivial dinner with a dancing night, while the program also includes a conference on the 'erbiòn' and its tradition.
Organized by the 'Amici di Miradolo' association with the support of the Municipality of Miradolo Terme, the festival offers free admission and is part of initiatives to promote the food and wine heritage of the Lombardy region. More than just a festival, it's an opportunity to rediscover the village's agricultural roots and experience the conviviality of the Bassa pavese.
The 2026 edition of the Pea and New Wine Festival enlivens Miradolo Terme from May 30 to June 1, celebrating the 'erbiòn', the ancient local variety of early pea. Saturday evening is dedicated to a dinner with a dancing night, Sunday is the heart of the festival, and Monday features the concluding lunch.
Sunday's program includes the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the historical parade of flag-throwers from the 'Onda Sforzesca' of Vigevano, traditional games, demonstrations, and zero-km market stalls. At 5:15 PM, Chef Stefano Marinucci's show cooking will feature the preparation of pea risotto with new wine, with a tasting for the public. Free admission.
