The longest night in lower Salento, featuring street art, music, and local flavors
The Patù White Night is one of the most anticipated events of the summer in lower Salento. Every year, in the second half of August, the historic center of Patù — one of the smallest and most charming villages in the province of Lecce, in Apulia — lights up for an entire night, from sunset until dawn, with a packed program of shows, music, art, and gastronomy spread across squares, alleys, and courtyards.
For the occasion, the entire ancient village becomes a large open-air venue. The streets and squares — from Piazza Indipendenza to Piazza Marco Pedone, from Largo Centopietre to Largo Fortino — host a succession of itinerant performances: street artists, jugglers, stilt walkers, aerial acrobats, clowns, and fire shows bring every corner of the town to life. There are also exhibitions, craft displays, and activities dedicated to children and families, creating a festive atmosphere that involves both residents and visitors.
The soundtrack of the evening ranges from tributes to great Italian singer-songwriters to jazz, percussion, rock, and traditional Salento music, with the pizzica dance accompanying performances throughout the alleys. The highlight takes place in Piazza Indipendenza, where the late-night live concerts and DJ sets are concentrated, continuing until the first light of dawn.
A large space is reserved for food and wine. Along the festival route, you will find stalls and tasting areas featuring traditional Salento dishes: pittule, meatballs in sauce, grilled meat, homemade pasta, and local wines, all part of a culinary journey designed to be enjoyed while strolling through the village.
The event is organized by the Circolo Arci "Patù Terra di Mezzo", with the patronage of the Municipality of Patù, the Province of Lecce, and the Apulia Region. Originally a local village feast, the White Night has grown over the years to become one of the signature events of the Capo di Leuca summer, capable of attracting thousands of people and showcasing the historical and artistic heritage of Patù, including the Palazzo Romano, home to the MAV — Archaeological Museum of Vereto.
The 2026 edition of the Patù White Night takes place on Thursday, August 20, 2026, starting at 8:00 PM and continuing until dawn. The entire ancient village comes alive with musical events and artistic performances spread across the town's iconic landmarks: Piazza Indipendenza, Piazza Marco Pedone, Largo Centopietre, Largo Fortino, the Palazzo Romano Garden, and Villa Don Tonino Bello.
The program includes itinerant street performer shows, exhibition and craft areas along Via Principe di Napoli and Via G. Romano, and a food and wine route with local wine tastings in Piazza Marco Pedone. There will be no shortage of stalls serving traditional Salento cuisine — meatballs in sauce, grilled meat, homemade pasta, and pittule — while the evening culminates with live concerts and DJ sets that accompany the audience until the first light of morning.
Exhibition and craft areas in Via Principe di Napoli, Via G. Romano, and Largo Fortino; food and wine route with wine tasting in Piazza Marco Pedone.
Patù is located at the southern tip of Salento, in the province of Lecce, just a few kilometers from Santa Maria di Leuca. By car, it can be reached via the SS275 to Gagliano del Capo and then following the provincial roads towards Patù. The nearest train station is the Ferrovie del Sud Est station in Gagliano-Leuca. During the event, the historic center is closed to traffic: it is advisable to park in the areas outside the village.
Admission to the White Night is free. Shows take place throughout the night, generally starting from the evening until dawn. Food and wine stalls offer dishes and drinks for purchase.
We recommend wearing comfortable shoes to navigate the cobblestone alleys of the village and arriving early due to the large crowds. For accommodation, lodging options are distributed between Patù, Leuca, and the neighboring towns of Capo di Leuca.
