The patronal feast of Campofiorito, blending faith and tradition in the Corleone area
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In the heart of the Corleone area, among the hills separating the province of Palermo from the Belice Valley, the small town of Campofiorito celebrates its patron saint, Saint Stephen the Protomartyr. It is the town's most heartfelt celebration: an event that unites the entire community in a moment of faith, memory, and belonging, marked by the procession of the statue through the village streets and a solemn Eucharistic celebration.
Devotion to Saint Stephen is deeply intertwined with the history of Campofiorito itself. The village was established by the will of Prince Stefano Reggio Gravina, its first lord, who in 1760 had the church dedicated to Saint Stephen the Protomartyr built—still one of the most important buildings in the town today. Inside, it houses the statue of the saint and valuable altars, including that of Our Lady of Sorrows. The names of the founder and the patron saint mirror each other, making this feast a profound part of the Campofiorito identity.
Saint Stephen the Protomartyr is the primary patron of Campofiorito and is traditionally celebrated on December 26th, the saint's liturgical day. Alongside him, the town venerates Saint Joseph as a co-patron, honored on March 19th with characteristic altars and traditional feasts. During the summer, the patronal festivities are part of the Estate Campofioritana calendar, a series of events promoted by the Municipality that brings the town to life throughout August, with the religious feast representing its final and most solemn moment.
Visiting Campofiorito during the patronal feast means connecting with the most authentic rural Sicily: a close-knit community, living peasant traditions (such as the famous Fava Bean Festival in early August), hospitality, and local flavors. The Feast of Saint Stephen is an opportunity to capture the spirit of a small town in the province of Palermo where faith and conviviality remain at the center of village life.
At the moment, the Municipality of Campofiorito and the parish have not yet released the official dates and program for the Saint Stephen the Protomartyr patronal feast for 2026. Based on previous editions, civil celebrations tend to take place in August, concluding the 'Estate Campofioritana' festival, with the procession of the statue through the village streets and a solemn Eucharistic celebration; the saint's liturgical feast remains fixed on December 26th. The detailed program will be published by the organizers closer to the event.
The festivities are centered around the Mother Church dedicated to Saint Stephen the Protomartyr and the streets of the center of Campofiorito (PA), along which the procession of the statue winds.
Campofiorito can be reached by car via the A19 / SS118 in the direction of Corleone, in the hilly hinterland of the province of Palermo. The village is about an hour and a half from the regional capital.
Participation in the religious and civil celebrations is free and open to all.
