Courmayeur's summer patron saint
The Patron Saint Festival of San Pantaleone is the celebration that animates the centre of Courmayeur (Province of Aosta) every July 27th in honour of the town's summer patron saint. On one of the highlight days of the Aosta Valley summer, the village streets fill with music, the aromas of typical cuisine, and a festive atmosphere.
The religious heart of the day is the mass in the Church of San Pantaleone, preceded by the evocative parade of the Courmayeur-La Salle musical band in Piazza Brocherel. Tradition is also expressed through local folk groups, such as the Piccoli Badochys and Les Badochys, who liven up the festival with their costumes and dances.
In the evening, the town streets transform into a large open-air restaurant: the traditional dinner is served along the village roads, with Aosta Valley cuisine dishes available for purchase at local bakeries, butcher shops, and stores. Afterwards, live music at the Jardin de l'Ange and DJ sets in the bars continue late into the night.
San Pantaleone is much more than a religious observance: it is the moment when Courmayeur celebrates its identity, bringing together residents and visitors in a day that blends the sacred, gastronomy, and entertainment. Organised with the support of the Municipality of Courmayeur, it is one of the most cherished festivals of the Aosta Valley summer.
