About Saint Margaret Entrèves

In July, the hamlet of Entrèves, at the foot of the Italian side of Mont Blanc, celebrates its patron saint, Saint Margaret, with a festival that blends devotion and Aosta Valley tradition. From solemn masses, the procession with the statue of the saint carried by Les Amis d'Entrèves, to the brass bands and folk groups, culminating in the distribution of polenta and fireworks, the small village transforms into the beating heart of the Courmayeur community.

The Patron Saint of Entrèves

The Feast of Saint Margaret is the most important celebration for the hamlet of Entrèves, a village in Courmayeur (Province of Aosta) located at the entrance to Val Ferret, at the foot of the Italian side of Mont Blanc. Every year, around July 20th, the community gathers around its patron saint with a festival that intertwines religious moments and popular tradition.

The Procession and Rites

The heart of the feast is the solemn mass in the parish church of Saint Margaret, accompanied by the choirs of Valdigne, civil and military authorities, and folk groups. This is followed by the evocative procession with the statue of the saint carried by Les Amis d'Entrèves, accompanied by the Courmayeur-La Salle brass band, the Frustapots group, the village children, and guest confraternities.

Folklore and Gastronomy

The festival involves the entire community with ceremonies, tournaments, typical dishes, and local crafts. Among the most anticipated moments are the distribution of polenta (with sausage or tripe) served to participants, performances by folk groups like Les Frustapots de Gressan and Les Badochys, and concluding with a zero-acoustic-impact fireworks display, respecting the alpine environment and animals.

A Community Event

Saint Margaret in Entrèves is a festival that tells the authentic soul of Courmayeur, far from the spotlight of worldly tourism. Organized by the parish and the association Les Amis d'Entrèves, it brings together residents, vacationers, and guests in one of the most deeply rooted traditions of the Aosta Valley summer.
